Acts 13:40 Beware therefore, lest that come upon you, which is spoken of in the prophets;

Acts 13:41 Behold, you despisers, wonder and perish, for I work a work in your days, a work which you shall in no wise believe, though a man declare it unto you.

Acts 13:42 And when those who called themselves 'Jews' were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next sabbath.

Acts 13:43 Now when the congregation was broken up, many of those of Judah and other religious proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas, who, speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God.

Acts 13:44 And the next sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God.

Acts 13:45 But when those calling themselves 'Jews' saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy and spake against those things which were spoken by Paul, contradicting and blaspheming.

Acts 13:46 Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you.(Adam Clarke's Commentary:.When our Lord gave his apostles their commission to go into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature, he told them they must begin first at Jerusalem {Mark 16:15; Luke 24:47}. In obedience therefore to this command, the apostles.{in every place where they went to to say the message}.made their first offers of the gospel to those of Judah), but seeing you put it from you and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.(Romans 2:9).

Acts 13:47 For so has the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set you to be a light of the Gentiles, that you should be for salvation unto the ends of the Earth.

Now both those of Judah and the Gentiles are to bring the high consciousness things of peace, freedom, prosperity and health to all the world.

Acts 13:48 And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and glorified the word of the Lord. And as many as were ordained (original for 'ordained' also means 'determined', 'put in order for' and what was their determining.factor?) to.eternal life.believed.

The original makes it clearer:."...And as many as believed were appointed to eternal life.(that is, believers get eternal life; believed what?.John 6:47).

And who were these 'as many'?.Acts 17:30.

Acts 13:49 And the word of the Lord was published.(original 'carried' {to others} and 'valued' {by them}).throughout all the region..(*)

Acts 13:50 But those calling themselves 'Jews' stirred up the devout and honourable women and chief men of the city, raising persecution against Paul and Barnabas and expelled them out of their coasts.

Acts 13:51 But they shook off the dust of their feet.(?).against them and came unto Iconium.

How did they 'shake off the dust of their feet'?.Acts 18:6.

Acts 13:52 And the disciples were filled with joy, the Holy Ghost..(as the original has it)
