John 6:1 After these things Emmanuel went over the sea of Galilee, which is the sea of Tiberias.

John 6:2-4 And a great multitude followed him, because they saw his miracles which he did on them that were diseased. And Emmanuel went up into a mountain and there he sat with his disciples. And the passover, a feast Judeans kept, was nigh.

John 6:5 When Emmanuel then lifted up his eyes and saw a great company come unto him, he said unto Philip, Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat?

John 6:6 And this he said to prove him. For he himself knew what he would do.

John 6:7 Philip answered him, Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may take a little.

John 6:8-10 One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, said unto him, There is a lad here, which has five barley loaves and two small fishes, but what are they among so many? And Emmanuel said, Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand.

John 6:11 And Emmanuel took the loaves and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples and the disciples to them that were set down and likewise of the fishes as much as they would.

John 6:12,13 When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost. Therefore they gathered them together and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which remained over and above unto them that had eaten.

John 6:14 Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Emmanuel did, said, This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world.
John 7:41.
John 6:15 When Emmanuel therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, he departed again into a mountain himself alone.
Comprised with Matthew Henry's Commentary: They wanted to make Him king, right then and there. When the people would have forced him to a crown, he withdrew, but when they came to force him to a cross for crucifixion, he offered himself, for he came into this world to suffer in our place and went to the other world, the world inside us, to be the captain: Hebrews 2:10.
John 6:16 And when even was now come, his disciples went down unto the sea,

John 6:17 And entered into a ship and went over the sea toward Capernaum. And it was now dark and Emmanuel was not come to them.

John 6:18 And the sea arose by reason of a great wind that blew.

John 6:19 So when they had rowed about five and twenty or thirty furlongs, they see Emmanuel walking on the sea and drawing nigh unto the ship and they were afraid.

John 6:20-25 But he said unto them, It is I. Be not afraid. Then they willingly received him into the ship and immediately the ship was at the land whither they went. The day following, when the people which stood on the other side of the sea saw that there was none other boat there, save that one whereinto his disciples were entered and that Emmanuel went not with his disciples into the boat, but that his disciples were gone away alone. Howbeit there came other boats from Tiberias near unto the place where they did eat bread, after that the Lord had given thanks. When the people therefore saw that Emmanuel was not there, neither his disciples, they also took shipping and came to Capernaum, seeking for Emmanuel. And when they had found him on the other side of the sea, they said unto him, Rabbi, when came you hither? Emmanuel answered them and said,

John 6:26 Verily, verily, I say unto you, You seek me, not because you saw the miracles, but because you did eat of the loaves and were filled.

John 6:27 Labour not only for the meat.(original means 'food').which perishes, but for that meat which endures unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall.(word 'shall' not in original, so it's 'gives unto you').give unto you, for him has God the Father sealed.

John 6:28 Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?

John 6:29 Emmanuel answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that you believe on him whom he.(who is this 'he'?).has sent.
If you believe in God, which also means to believe in Emmanuel Christ (Jesus Christ), that means you have been given the ability, a gift in being able to believe:.John 6:44.

Original for 'believe on him' is 'believe into that (information) which is sent to you' or for you:.2Peter 3:18. And what was that information about?

John 6:30 They said therefore unto him, What sign show you then, that we may see and believe you and what you work?
Having the attiude of 'you prove it to US, because we are the educated ones who will know if you are telling the truth. These ones were about as true as fiat money is.

These were so stupid in their intellectual arrogance, they had no idea how belief works.

John 6:31,32 Our fathers did eat manna in the desert. As it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat. Then Emmanuel said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven, but my Father gives you the true bread from heaven.

John 6:33 For the bread of God is he which comes down from heaven and gives life unto the world.
The wrong kind of fear takes away one's enthusiasm for life. The right kind of respect for God gives life to your presence here.
John 6:34 Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread.

John 6:35 And Emmanuel said unto them, I am the bread of life. He that comes to me shall never hunger and he that believes on me shall never thirst.
Matthew 5:6.
John 6:36 But I said unto you, That you also have seen me and believe not.

John 6:37 All that the Father gives me come to me and those which come to me I will in no wise cast out.
God opens.humanity's heart. Who are the ones the Father hasn't given the Son?
John 6:38 For I came down from.(original for 'came down from' is 'descended' or simply, 'came from').heaven.(what's heaven?), not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.

John 6:39 And this is the Father's will which has sent me, that of all which he has given me I should lose.(original for 'lose' is 'perish', 'destroy', that is, none of them will suffer these things).nothing, but should raise them up again at the last day.
The verse is saying not to fear that you'll ever be lost from God, not even in death:.1Corinthians 15:55 "O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?"

Father-God doesn't regard death as those on Earth have been conditioned into believing.

John 6:40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which sees the Son and believes on him.(Acts 16:30,31), may have everlasting life and I will raise him up at the last day.

John 6:41.The Jews then murmured at him, because he said, I am the bread which came down from heaven.

John 6:42 And they said, Is not this Emmanuel, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How is it then that he says, I came down from heaven?
These ones calling themselves Jews had no idea of the scriptures on the spirit that is the real man, the invisible one that supports the physical one we see:.Job 32:8; Psalms 32:2; Proverbs 17:27; 29:23; Zechariah 12:1. They should have known them as their religion was built on them.
John 6:43.Emmanuel therefore answered and said unto them, Murmur not among yourselves.

John 6:44 No one can come to me, except the Father which has sent me draw him and I will raise him up at the last day.
How does being drawn to God occur? It occurs when God is ready. Coming to God does not at all have to be a long process. It can happen instantly when one's mind is off the things of the world:.John 5:40-44

Barnes Notes: This was spoken by Emmanuel to reprove their murmurings (previous verses). They objected to his doctrine and/or murmured against it, because he claimed to be greater than Moses and because they supposed him to be a mere man and that what he said was impossible. Emmanuel does not deny that these things appeared difficult and hence he said."Murmur not among yourselves". If any man believed, it was proof that God had inclined him.

John 6:45 It is written in the prophets, And they'll all be taught of God. Every man therefore that has heard and has learned of the Father, comes unto me.
So then it is important to get the message to others that, one has to both hear.and.learn.
John 6:46 Not that any man has seen the Father.(John 1:18; 1John 4:12), save.(except).he which is of God, he has seen the Father.
Emmanuel was a man and He saw the Father because He was of a higher consciousness. How did He see the Father? (Matthew 5:8) and we can too because we are His brothers and sisters. We can see the Creator-Father by an inner seeing, an inner knowing, just as real as seeing him with physical eyes.
John 6:47 Verily, verily,.(word 'verily' means 'in truth' or 'I kid you not' and emphasized by repetition; the way they talked back then).I say unto you, He that believes on me has everlasting life.

John 6:48 I am that bread of life..(*)

John 6:49 Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness and are dead.

John 6:50 This.(refering to the next verse).is the bread which comes down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof and not die.

John 6:51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If any man eat of this bread, he lives for ever.(Ephesians 2:1,5).and the bread that I give is my flesh, which I give for the life of the world.(John 3:17).
"which I give", words 'give' are in the Greek indicative mood, which is a simple statement of fact. If an action occurs, has occurred or will occur, it will be rendered in the indicative mood, which it here is. The word is also in the active voice and the future tense.

So, here we see it has occurred before the world was here (2Timothy 1:9) and because it was done by God, those things occur as being as good as completed (Romans 4:17 "...God...calls those things which be not as though they were.") and this included the crucifixion (refer again to 2Timothy 1:9) and those things that are now occurring (2Corinthians 6:2) and includes what is still yet to occur in the lives of those.(*).who will one day awaken (Hebrews 9:28) to these things.

John 6:52.The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat?

John 6:53 Then Emmanuel said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except you eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, you have no life in you.
Means to accept this 'living bread' (see verse 40 above) into your heart, to form it into your spiritual makeup. It's a union in life with Christ:.Romans12:4,5. That is, believe in what Emmanuel who came from God did for us all. What He did for us.
John 6:54 Whoso eats my flesh and drinks my blood (see verse 53 above), has eternal life and I will raise.(original for word 'raise' is 'stand in the midst', that is, Christ is in the midst of all believers and as such their resurrection is assured).him up at the last day.
What is this last day?
John 6:55,56 For my flesh is meat.(food).indeed and my blood is drink indeed. He that eats my flesh and drinks my blood, dwells in me and I in him.
John 15:1-7; 17:21-23;.obviously it is talking spiritually; that is, in your heart, be all for the things Emmanuel died to make possible for all of us:.John 16:7); haven't we all known some of those who go to church take the bread and wine in a communion ceremony and would screw you to the wall if it was to their advantage?
John 6:57 As the living Father has sent me and I live by.(or 'on account of').the Father, so he that eats me.(Luke 22:19), even he lives by me.
John 5:26; 1Corinthians 15:22; Philippians 1:21.

Emmanuel was saying that, as He lives by the Father and since we are both one.(*), your spiritual life should be based on spiritual food that comes from God:.John 4:34 "Emmanuel said unto them, My meat.(that is, food) is to do the will of him that sent me and to finish his work."

And how can you too? Use the four spiritual disciplines and follow the golden rule.

John 6:58 This is that bread which came down from heaven. Not as your fathers did eat manna and are dead. He that eats of this bread shall live for ever.

John 6:59 These things said he in the synagogue, as he taught in Capernaum.
Christ came to teach, to lift us up high spiritually.
John 6:60,61 Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is an hard saying. Who can comprehend it? When Emmanuel knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, Does this offend you?

John 6:62 What and if you shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before?
John 17:5.
John 6:63 It is the spirit that quickens.(makes one alive; makes, keeps us animated as physical beings). The flesh profits nothing.(it's the things of the spirit that are important). The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit and they are life.(*).
The words are spirit, that is, they affect one's spiritual part of life.
John 6:64 But there are some of you that believe not.(of the 120 disciples who were learning from Emmanuel, some turned away from it all as time went on Acts 1:15). For Emmanuel knew from the beginning who they were that believed not and who.(John 13:18).should betray him.
Many people followed Emmanuel because of the loaves and the fishes:.Mark 6:44; John 6:26.
John 6:65 And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father.

John 6:66 From that time many of his disciples.(how many were there?.Acts 1:15).went back and walked no more with him.

John 6:67 Then said Emmanuel unto the twelve, Will you also go away?

John 6:68 Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.
1John 5:20.
John 6:69 And we believe and are sure that you are that Christ, the Son of the living God.

John 6:70.Emmanuel answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve and one of you is a devil?
