John
19:1 Then Pilate therefore took Emmanuel
and scourged
him.
In
an Old Testament prophecy of His scourging, his being beaten up, says of
it:.Isaiah
52:14 "As many were astonished
at you. His visage
was so marred
more than any man and his form more than the sons of men."
John
19:2-5 And the soldiers platted.(braided).a
crown of thorns and put it on his head and they put on him a purple robe
and said, Hail, King of the Judeans! and they smote
him with their hands. Pilate therefore went forth again and said unto them,
Behold, I bring him forth to you, that you may know that I find no fault
in him. Then came Emmanuel forth, wearing the crown of thorns and the purple
robe. And Pilate said unto them, Behold the man!
John
19:6 When the chief priests therefore and officers saw him, they cried
out, saying, Crucify him, crucify him. Pilate said unto them, You take
him and crucify him for I find no fault in him.
John
19:7 The Jews.(these
who named themselves 'Jews' and were actually
of the satanist.cabal,
were not Judeans)
answered him, We have a law and by our law he ought to die, because he
made himself the Son of God.
Luke
22:66-71.
John
19:10 Then said Pilate unto him, Speak you not unto me? Know you not
that I have power to crucify you and have power to release you?
John
19:11 Emmanuel answered, You could have no power at all against me,
except it were given you from above. Therefore he.(Satan,
who is behind man making him his worst:.John
13:21,26,27).that delivered
me unto you has the greater sin.
John
19:12 And from thenceforth Pilate sought to release him, but the
Jews cried out, saying, If you let this man go, you are not Caesar's
friend. Whosoever makes himself a king speaks against Caesar.
John
19:13 When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he brought Emmanuel
forth and sat down in the judgment seat in a place that is called the Pavement,
but in the Hebrew, Gabbatha.
John
19:14 And it was the preparation of the passover and about the sixth
hour and he said unto the
Jews, Behold your King!
John
19:15 But they cried out, Away with him, away with him, crucify him.
Pilate said unto them, Shall I crucify your King? The chief priests answered,
We have no king but Caesar.
John
19:16 Then delivered he him therefore unto them to be crucified. And
they took Emmanuel and led him away.
John
19:17 And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place
of a skull.(Luke
23:33), which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha,
John
19:18 Where they crucified him and two others with him, on either side
one and Emmanuel in the middle.
John
19:19 And Pilate wrote a title and put it on the cross. And the writing
was, EMMANUEL OF NAZARETH THE KING OF THE JUDEANS.
John
19:20 This title then was read by many of the
Jews, for the place where Emmanuel was crucified was nigh to the city
and it was written in Hebrew and Greek and Latin.
John
19:21,22 Then said the chief priests of the
Jews to Pilate, Write not, The King of the Judeans, but that he said,
I am King of the Judeans. Pilate answered, What I have written I have written.
John
19:23 Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Emmanuel, took his
garments and made four parts, to every soldier a part and also his coat.
Now the coat was without seam, woven from the top throughout.
John
19:24 They said therefore among themselves, Let us not rend
it, but cast lots
for it, whose it shall be. This fulfilled the scripture, which said, They
parted my raiment among them.(they
wanted to see if the clothing pieces were even worth participating in the
lot to get them).and for my
vesture.(all
his clothing).they did cast
lots. These things therefore the soldiers did.
This
scriptures is from the prophecy recorded 1000 years before its occurrence:.Psalms
22:18.
John
19:25 Now there stood by the cross of Emmanuel, his mother and his
mother's sister, Mary the wife of Cleophas and Mary Magdalene.
Comprised
with.Easton's
Bible Dictionary:.In
the spelling of the word 'Cleophas' the letter 'h' is inserted by mistake
from the Latin manuscripts. Instead it should be 'Cleopas', which is the
Greek
form of the original word, while Clopas is the Aramaic
form. The word 'wife' is conjecturally
inserted here. If 'wife' is rightly inserted and makes sense when it is,
then this particular Mary was not Mary mother of Emmanuel, but Mary the
mother of James
the Less and James the Less's father was Cleopas or Alphaeus. Alphaeus
is the Hebrew form of the Greek word Cleopas:.Matthew
10:3; 27:56.
John
19:26,27 When Emmanuel therefore saw his mother and the disciple standing
by whom he loved.(*),
he said unto his mother, Woman, behold your son! Then said he to the disciple,
Behold your mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his
own home.
John
19:28 After this, Emmanuel knowing that all things were now accomplished,
that the scripture might be fulfilled, said, I thirst.
Clarke's
Commentary:."He
wished to give them the fullest proof of his being the Messiah,
by distinctly marking how every thing relative to the Messiah, which had
been written in the prophets, had its complete fulfillment in him."
John
19:29 Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar and they filled a
spunge with vinegar and put it upon hyssop.(a
plant {unidentified} used way back when as a condiment and for religious
uses).and put it to his mouth.
John
19:30 When Emmanuel therefore had received
the vinegar, he said, It
is finished. And he bowed his head and gave up the ghost.(His
soul left His body).
In
the original the words translated."It
is finished".is
one word 'Tetelestai', meaning 'done', 'paid for', 'brought to a close',
'finished', often used in place of the word 'Amen', such as
here. Why? So, you can now
rest in the finished work
Christ completed on the cross:.Matthew
11:28; Hebrews 4:3-11. As
a result, if you're in
Christ, you'll be there forever.(Hebrews
13:5), unless you become as those angels who threw it all away. You
always
have free choice, as
they did.
John
19:31.The
Jews therefore, because it was the preparation.(Matthew
27:61,62; the preparation here was for the annual Passover
festival), that the bodies should not remain upon the
cross on the sabbath day, for that sabbath day was an high day.(not
just a regular sabbath day, but a special
holy day that fell on a sabbath), besought Pilate that
their legs might be broken and that they might be taken away.
John
19:32 Then came the soldiers and brake the legs of the first and of
the
other which was crucified with him.
John
19:33 But when they came to Emmanuel and saw that he was dead already,
they brake not his legs.
Verse
36 below.
John
19:34 But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side and forthwith
came there out blood and water.
John
19:35 And he that saw.(John,
who wrote this book of John, saw it, was an eyewitness of it, verses
29-34 above).it bare record
and his record is true and he knows what he said is true, that you might
believe.
John's
conviction from his own eyewitnessing of Emmanuel's death and resurrection
was an encouragement to others that it was indeed
real:.1John
5:10,11; Acts 4:13.
John
19:36 For these things were done, that the scripture.(Exodus
12:46; Psalms 34:20).should
be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken.
John
19:37 And again another scripture.(Zechariah
12:10).says, They shall
look on him whom they pierced.
John
19:38 And after this, Joseph of Arimathaea, being a disciple.(Matthew
10:1).of Emmanuel, but secretly
for fear of the
Jews, besought Pilate that he might take away the body of Emmanuel
and Pilate gave him leave. He came therefore and took the body of Emmanuel.
John
19:39 And there came also Nicodemus,
which at the first came to Emmanuel by night and brought a mixture of myrrh
and aloes, about an hundred pound weight.
John
19:40 Then took they the body of Emmanuel and wound it in linen clothes
with the spices, as the manner of those of the Judeans
is to bury.
John
19:41 Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden and
in the garden a new
sepulchre,
wherein was never man yet laid.
John
19:42 There laid they Emmanuel therefore because of the passover's
preparation day, for the sepulchre was nigh at hand.
