1Corinthians
7:1,2 Now concerning the things whereof you wrote unto me: It is good
for a man not to touch a woman. Nevertheless,
to avoid fornication,
let every man have his own wife and let every woman have her own husband.
1Corinthians
7:3 Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence.(keep
her sexually happy).and likewise
also the wife unto the husband.
1Corinthians
7:4 The wife has not power of her own body, but the husband. And likewise
also the husband has not power of his own body, but the wife.
1Corinthians
7:5 Defraud.(original
'deprive, separate').you not
one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that you may give
yourselves to fasting and prayer and come together again, that Satan tempt
you not for your incontinency.
1Corinthians
7:6 But I speak this by permission.(out
of what I have learned).and
not of commandment.
1Corinthians
7:7 For I would that all men were even as I myself.(?).
But every man has his proper gift of God, one after this manner and another
after that.
1Peter
4:10.
1Corinthians
7:8 I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, It is good for them
if they abide even as I.
Paul
is saying that, at this time it's better to remain single. Perhaps there
was some persecution upon those Christians back then.
1Corinthians
7:9 But if they cannot contain, let them marry. For it is better to
marry than to burn..(to
burn?)
1Corinthians
7:10-12 And unto the married
I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband.
But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried or be reconciled to her
husband
and let not the husband put away his wife. But to the rest speak I, not
the Lord.(that
is, it's my own opinion and nothing here to do with one's spirituality),
If any brother has a wife that believes not and she be pleased to dwell
with him, let him not put her away.
In
the Old Testament, because of the hardness of their hearts, that is, men
just did not see deep realizing that women had a precious soul, probably
because they weren't aware of their own and so they got rid of a woman
when they wanted to and for whatever reason they could find:.Deuteronomy
24:1-4; Mark 10:2-9.
1Corinthians
7:13 And the woman which has an husband that believes not and if he
be pleased to dwell with her, let her not leave him.
1Corinthians
7:14 For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife and the
unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband. Else were your children
unclean; but now are they holy.
1Corinthians
7:15 But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a
sister is not under bondage in such cases. But God has called us to peace.
1Corinthians
7:16 For what know you, O wife,
whether you shall save your husband? or how know you, O man, whether you
shall save your wife?
1Corinthians
7:17 But as God has distributed to every man, as the Lord has called
every one, so let him walk. And so ordain.(original
adds 'to set this principle in order', that is, let each person follow
what he feels he has of God:.Romans
12:3; in other words, live from where you're at and get your
reward).I in all churches.
1Corinthians
7:18 Is any man called being circumcised? let him not become uncircumcised.(or,
don't be ashamed if you are circumcised because the time of its application
is no longer). Is any called in uncircumcision?.(such
as was true of the Gentiles).let
him not be circumcised.
1Corinthians
7:19.Circumcision
is nothing and uncircumcision is nothing, but the keeping of the commandments
of God
Paul
talks about circumcision (Galatians
5:6-11) being an issue
to some converts
to Christianity in this
city of Corinth, Greece way back then. Paul is saying what is important
now is the commandments, but which
ones, now that the Old Testament Mosaic Law.was
abolished?
1Corinthians
7:20 Let every man abide in the same calling wherein he was called.
In
other words, if you being a Judean were circumcised, so what? And likewise,
if you were called being a Gentile and are uncircumcised, so what? See
verse 19 above.
1Corinthians
7:21 Art you called being a servant? care not for it, but if you may
be made free, use it rather.
It's
saying just because you are now of God, it doesn't matter spiritually if
you remain a servant to someone or seek freedom from being a servant.
1Corinthians 7:22 For he that is called in the Lord,
being a servant, is the Lord's freeman. Likewise also he that is called
being free, is Christ's servant.
1Corinthians
7:22 For he that is called.(Matthew
11:27).in the Lord, being a servant.(original
for 'servant' is 'slave',
'bondman', 'a
man of servile.condition'),
is the Lord's freeman.(original
for 'freeman' is 'released from separation', that is, now separate from
the low consciousness ego level of the world that held him to the bondage
of sin, the ego
world having implemented
many ways to enslave free people
with its unlawful, thus
unfair, but legal
laws, holding them back from realizing
their full potential
in the freedom and free gifts
the Creator has given humanity). Likewise also he that is called,
being free, is Christ's.(understand
what
'Christ' is).servant.
Comprehend
the
difference between 'free man' and 'freeman'.
Barnes
Notes: The man or woman is manumitted,
now made free, endowed
with liberty
by the Lord. This verse is delicately
designed evidently
to comfort the heart of one still in slavery
to the physical system
and helps him to be contented with his condition and is a happy and tender
argument. The sense is this 'You are blessed by the Lord with freedom from
bondage of sin ':.John
8:36 "If the Son therefore shall make you free, you shall be free indeed."
Romans
6:18,22 "Being then made free from sin, you became the servants of
righteousness. But now being made free from sin and become servants to
God, you have your fruit unto holiness and the end, everlasting life.".You
were formerly
a slave to sin, deceived
into thinking you were a free
man within the slavery, but now you are liberated:.1Peter
2:15-20. Bondage to sin was far more grievous and far more to be lamented
than the bondage of the body. But from that long, grievous and oppressive
servitude,
you are now free. Your condition, even though you are a slave, is far better
than it was before. You are now the true free man, the free man of the
Lord. Your spirit is free, while those who are not slaves and are perhaps
your own masters, are even now under a more severe and odious bondage than
yours was. Rejoice, therefore, in deliverance from the greater evil and
be glad that in the eye of God you are regarded as His free man and endowed
by him with more valuable freedom than it would be to be delivered from
the physical bondage under which you are now placed. The verse is saying
that freedom from sin is the highest blessing that can be conferred on
men and if that is yours, you should little regard your external circumstances
in this life as you are now in the body of Christ (Romans
12:5) and if free in Christ, you're free in life, free spiritually
and remember, the physical always follows the spiritual, so you'll be free
physically too; it's on its way.
1Corinthians 7:23 You are bought with a price, be
not you the servants of men.
1Corinthians
7:23 You are bought with a price.(1Corinthians
6:20); be not you the servants of men.
In other words,
relationship
with the Father comes first. Don't bind yourself to things of this
life which can steal too much away from this relationship, including willingly
placing yourself under anything that would tend
to subvert
spiritual direction:.1John
5:18 "We know that whosoever is born of God sins
not, but he that is begotten
of God keeps himself.(is
on the qui vive).and
that wicked one touches him not.(Ephesians
6.13)." Romans
6:17,20 "But God be thanked, that you were the servants of sin, but
now you have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered
you.(they lived
from their heart and not from information opposed to the love ways of the
multierse; what information today would this be? 1,
2,).
For when you were the servants of sin you were free from righteousness."
1Peter
1:18-23 "Forasmuch as you know that you were not redeemed with corruptible
things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition
from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb
without blemish and without spot. who verily was foreordained before the
foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,
who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead and gave
him glory, that your faith and hope might be in God. Seeing your souls
are purified in harkening to the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned
love of the brethren, see that you love one another with a pure heart fervently.
Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the
word of God, which lives and abides for ever."
1Corinthians
7:24 Brethren, let every man, wherein he is called,
therein abide with God.
In
other words avoid being sucked in by the ways
of the world, the ways of low consciousness living.
1Corinthians
7:26,27 I suppose therefore that this is good for the present distress,
I say, that it is good for a man so to be. Are you bound unto a wife?
seek not to be loosed. Are you loosed from a wife? seek not a wife.
1Corinthians
7:29 But this I say brethren, the time is short. It remains that both
they that have wives be as though they had none,
Whatever
season of life you may be, I would remind you that life in this stage hastens
to a close and that the grand business now.(2Corinthians
6:2).is to
be ready by preparing yourself for the next step in existence, the kingdom
of God:.Matthew
25:9-12; Luke 17:29-31.
The time is now!.2Corinthians
6:2.
1Corinthians
7:30 And they that weep as though they wept not and they that rejoice
as though they rejoiced not and they that buy as though they possessed
not;
1Corinthians
7:31 And they that use this world, as not abusing.(original
connotes
'use of for selfish.agglomeration').it,
for the fashion of this world is passing away..(?)
So,
come to the realization of why you are here.
1Corinthians
7:32,33 But I would have you without carefulness.(original
is 'anxiety').
He that is unmarried cares for the things that belong to the Lord, how
he may please the Lord. But he that is married cares for the things that
are of the world, how he may please his wife.(that
is, with his wife and family as important focus).
1Corinthians
7:34 There is difference also between a wife
and a virgin. The unmarried woman cares for the things of the Lord, that
she may be holy both in body and in spirit. But she that is married cares
for the things of the world, how she may please her husband.
1Corinthians
7:35 And this I speak for your own profit, not that I may cast a snare
upon you, but for that which is comely and that you may attend upon the
Lord without distraction.
1Corinthians
7:36 But if any man think that he behaves himself uncomely toward his
virgin.(speaking
of a father, as in these times, it was to father who would approve or disapprove
of his daughter marrying, as some should remain virgins, such as if they
lacked an ability to be in a marriage {brain injury, etc.} or as in this
case, there was distress, persecution upon Christians, as verses
26,27 show), if she pass the flower of her age.(getting
older and wanting to have the pleasures of sex and children).and
need so require, let him do what he will, he sins not; let them marry.
1Corinthians
7:37 Nevertheless he that stands stedfast in his heart, having no necessity.(doesn't
see any issue with his daughter remaining single), but has
power over his own will.(is
responsible for standing by decisions made).and
has so decreed in his heart that he will keep his virgin, does well.
1Corinthians
7:38 So then he that gives her in marriage does well, but he that gives
her not in marriage does better.
Considering
the distress prevalent at the time back then, it is better to not to allow
a daughter to get into a new situation with someone not quite as well known
to her as her family.
1Corinthians
7:39 The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband lives, but
if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will;
only in the Lord.
2Corinthians
6:14.
1Corinthians
7:40 But she is happier if she so abide, after my judgment and I think
also that I have the Spirit of God.
