And what about having a few beer, a glass of wine, champagne or a shot or two of the hard stuff?.Ephesians 5:18; Numbers 28:7 "...in the holy place shalt you cause the strong wine to be poured unto the LORD for a drink offering." Psalms 104:15 "And wine that makes glad the heart of man and oil to make his face to shine and bread which strengthens man's heart."

Remember, balance in all things is the key. Listen to your best friend, the Creator in your heart through which one gets guidance

One of my favorite times is having a few beer on a hot afternoon while barbecuing fish or steak or chicken.(the beef and chicken I eat very occasionally and organic grass fed beef, wild elk, bison and organic free range chickens are way more nutritious and flavorful, albeit, regarding the beef, the grass fed is a little tougher chewing, so marinate it in a marinage such as an organic yogurt or whatever, overnight before cooking and add a little cumin to it as it makes it more digestible; slow and low temperature cooking is best always of course; just don't overcook and dry it all out; for preferably fresh, not frozen and thawed, chicken, all you need is the grey sea salt, black pepper and fresh lemon juice on it (try it also by adding cumin) and cook to a medium heat for about 40 minutes, depending upon altitude and if you're using wood, gas or electricity; wood or gas is best for succulent flavor and crispy brown skin is wonderful; you could also try cooking pieces of succulent chicken with ample garlic and a little sherry)

Some believe that when the Bible talks about wine.(Mark 14:25).it was only grape juice..Ungers Bible Dictionary.says that Old Testament wine was fermented grape juice, an intoxicant, like as used with this couple:.Song of Solomon 2:4. Unger's explanation fits with.Psalms 104:15; Amos 9:14,15

Emmanuel's first miracle was to turn water into wine at a wedding which was short of booze. Emmanuel turns water into wine, not grape juice!.John 2:1-12

But what is it that leads to substance abuse such as alcoholism?
It is better to sit tight than to drive tight?

Drunkenness is no good. It can lead to alcoholism if one consistently chooses to get drunk:.Isaiah 5:11 "Woe unto them that rise up early in the morning, that they may follow strong drink; that continue until night, till wine inflame them!".Those who drown themselves in drink, usually do not have far to sink! But, they can change!

Those who drink to escape whatever and those who drink to gain courage, have a problem. The drink will begin to control them and not vice versa:.Titus 1:7.

Do not be 'given' to drink, where you 'just got to have it', where it controls you and you do not control it. A question to ask is 'Does my hunger control me or do I control my hungers?.1Corinthians 6:12 "All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any." Romans 6:12,13 "Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof...Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness.(keeping parts of the Old Testament Mosaic Law as verse 14 partially shows).unto sin, but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God."

Our tastes and habits keep us bound to that which may be hurting us:.Habakkuk 2:15 "Woe unto him that gives his neighbour drink, that puts his bottle to him and makes him drunken also, that you may look on their nakedness!"

But how do we break horrible habits that in effect, cause us to reject what is good for us?

Derek Sanderson, NHL legend, once named by Cosmopolitan Magazine as one of the sexiest men in America lost $4 million plus, pursuing a lifestyle he was convinced would give him happiness; a lifestyle that took him from stardom down the ABC road.(alcohol, broads and cocaine).of wild parties to a bum on a park bench trying to steal a bottle from a fellow drunk.

Derek sowed the wild lifestyle for a while and then reaped a compounding of hardship, anguish and poverty for it. Without the hard times, could he have turned around? He had to come to the point where it was just sickening to him, before he could lift his head up and consider a different direction. Derek had hit bottom.

Trials and sufferings are always for a purpose if you're not deep in heart an evil person and just one who has 'lost his way'. God could take the trials away, but He knows that even wisdom coming late, gets you outta dah gate!

Until we struggle to learn how to realign our lives, troubles seem to just hang around.

Derek tried detox 13 times. Finally he made the decision."I said, God help me, I can't live this way anymore.".A counselor told him."You don't know how to live. That's what you're afraid of.".Since that day he's been clean! Now he's 68 (2017), married and has a 8 year old son and is part of a Boston group managing the affairs of pro athletes.

Derek says."The pursuit of happiness is not the pursuit of pleasure.".In fact you don't go to find happiness. You simply decide to be happy and stick to it.

Never.drink to get drunk.(need help here?), but those already in good attitudes who drink to get 'feeling good' usually have a good time:.Ecclesiastes 2:24; 3:13; 1Chronicles 29:22

And what did Solomon, probably the wisest man who ever lived say?.Ecclesiastes 10:19; 9:7; Proverbs 31:6,7; 23:20,21,29-35. Also Romans 14:1-22.(especially verses 21,22).
