Deuteronomy
7:1,2 When the Lord your God brings you into the land whither you go
to possess it and has cast out many nations before you, the
Hittites
and the Girgashites.(Genesis
15:19-21).and the Amorites
and the Canaanites
and the Perizzites and the
Hivites
and the Jebusites, seven nations
greater and mightier than you; And when the Lord your God shall deliver
them to you, you shall smite them and utterly destroy them. You shall
make no covenant with them, nor show mercy unto them.
Why
was this God of great mercy like this?
Deuteronomy
7:3,4 Neither shall you make marriages with them.(2Corinthians
6:14). Your daughter you shall not give unto his son,
nor his daughter shall you take unto your son. For they will turn away
your son from following me, that they may serve other
Gods, so will
the anger
of the Lord be kindled against you and destroy you suddenly.
Deuteronomy
7:5 But thus shall you deal with them. You shall destroy their altars
and break down their images and cut down their groves and burn their graven
images with fire.
Well,
they never did that. Of course, like people today, they just don't comprehend
the only real true, kind, compassionate and loving God has set up a stage
here on Earth to see who will align with Him and who won't and of those
that won't, who of them wold actually be against those people of spiritual
Israel.
The others
instead figured thay had just about enough of this God in their lives (Jeremiah
44:16,17) and went
on to adopt all the idolatrous ways they possibly could, mingling
with those God said not to. Time
and time again they would come back to God and then leave. They seemed
only to be for God when they were in trouble. They just never seemed to
get to the state of mind of being in a relationship
with God. Such were many, not all of these 'mankind' ones, being
of design by the dark side ones
to varying degrees. The evil line of
Esau was set up by God to be a specific antagonistic
and continuous line to God's line of Jacob. They both exist today.
Deuteronomy
7:6 For you are an holy people unto the Lord your God. The Lord your
God has chosen
you to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are
upon the face of the Earth..(?)
Special
people:.Exodus
19:5; Deuteronomy 10:15.
Deuteronomy
7:7 The Lord did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because
you were more in number than any people, for you were the fewest of all
people.
Deuteronomy
7:8 But because the Lord loved you and because he would keep the oath
which he had sworn unto your fathers.(Genesis
12:1-3), has the Lord brought you out with a mighty hand
and redeemed you out of the house of bondmen.(*),
from the hand of
Pharaoh
king of Egypt.
Deuteronomy
7:9 Know therefore that the Lord your God, he is God, the faithful
God, which keeps covenant and mercy with them that love him and
keep his commandments to a thousand generations.
Since
the old law with its physical
do's and don'ts is now gone,
what
are the commandments (the instructions) for today?
Deuteronomy
7:10 And repays them that hate him.(how?).to
their face, to destroy them. He will not be slack to him that hates him,
he will repay him to his face.
Who
hates the Creator, the Holy Spirit and Christ?.Jeremiah
6:10,15-17.
Deuteronomy
7:11-14 You shall therefore keep the commandments and the statutes
and the judgments, which I command you this day, to do them. Wherefore
it shall come to pass, if you hearken to these judgments and keep and do
them, that the Lord your God shall keep unto you the covenant and the mercy
which he sware unto your fathers. And he will love you and bless
you and multiply you. He will also bless the fruit of your womb and
the fruit of your land, your corn and your wine and your oil, the increase
of your kine.(cows).and
the flocks of your sheep, in the land which he sware unto your fathers
to give you. You shall be blessed above all people. There shall not be
male or female barren among you or among your cattle.
Deuteronomy
7:15,16 And the Lord will take away from you all sickness and will
put none of the evil diseases of Egypt, which you know, upon you, but will
lay them upon all them that hate you. And you shall consume all the people
which the Lord your God shall deliver you. Your eye shall have no pity
upon them, neither shall you serve their
Gods, for that will be a snare unto you.
Deuteronomy
7:17 If you say in your heart, These nations are more than I, how can
I dispossess them?
Deuteronomy
7:16-20 You shall not be afraid of them, but shall well remember what
the Lord your God did unto Pharaoh and unto all Egypt, the great temptations
which your eyes saw and the signs and the wonders and the mighty hand and
the stretched out arm, whereby the Lord your God brought you out. So shall
the Lord your God do unto all the people of whom you are afraid. Moreover
the Lord your God will send the hornet among them, until those that are
left hide themselves from you destroying them.
Deuteronomy
7:21 You shall not be affrighted at them, for the Lord your God is
among you, a mighty God and terrible.
Deuteronomy
7:22-26 And the Lord your God will put out those nations before you
by little and little. You may not consume them at once, lest the beasts
of the field increase upon you. But the Lord your God shall deliver them
unto you and shall destroy them with a mighty destruction, until they be
destroyed. And he shall deliver their kings into your hand and you shalt
destroy their name from under heaven. There shall no man be able to stand
before you to stop you from destroying them. The graven images of their
Gods shall you burn with fire. You shall not desire the silver or gold
that is on them, nor take it unto you, lest you be snared therein, for
it is an abomination to the Lord your God. Neither shall you bring an abomination
into your house, lest you be a cursed thing like it, but you shall utterly
detest it and you shall utterly abhor it, for it is a cursed thing.
Shows
that God indeed is a jealous
God (Exodus 34:14) when it comes
to those on God's side and
wants them to not have any part with the wicked ones:.Revelation
18:4.
Deuteronomy
8:1 All the commandments which I command thee this day shall you observe
to do, that you may live and multiply and go in and possess the land which
the Lord sware unto your fathers.
Deuteronomy
8:2 And you shall remember all the way which the Lord your God led
you these forty years in the wilderness.(what
the ancient Israelites went through on their way to the
promised land after they left 400 years of bondage
under the Egyptians), to humble you and to prove you.(*),
to know what was in your heart.(God
was always interested
in the heart of humans), whether you would keep his commandments
or no.
Deuteronomy
8:3 And he humbled you and suffered you to hunger and fed you with
manna, which you knew not, neither did your fathers know; that he might
make you know that man does not live by bread only, but by every word
that proceeds out of the mouth of the Lord does man live..(Emmanuel
said it too:.Matthew
4:4)
Deuteronomy
8:4 Your raiment
waxed not old upon you, neither did your foot swell, these forty years.
Deuteronomy
8:5 You shalt also consider in your heart.(contemplation),
that, as a man chastens
his son, so the Lord your God chastens you.(*).
Deuteronomy
8:6 Therefore you shall keep the commandments of the Lord your God,
to walk in his ways and to fear
him.
Deuteronomy
8:7-9 For God brings you into a good land, a land of brooks of water,
of fountains and depths that spring out of valleys and hills; a land of
wheat and barley and vines and fig trees and pomegranates; a land of oil
olive and honey; a land wherein you shall eat bread without scarceness,
you shall not lack any thing in it; a land whose stones are iron
and out of whose hills you may dig brass.
Deuteronomy
8:10-14 When you have eaten and are full, then you shall bless.(or,
be blissful,
be thankful and happy and by remembering where all these good things
came from, you willl be thankful and blissful and this is pleasing
to God).the Lord your God
for the good land which he has given you. Beware
that you forget not your God, in not keeping his commandments and his judgments
and his statutes, which I command you this day, lest
when you have eaten and are full and have built goodly houses and dwelt
therein and when your herds and your flocks multiply and your silver and
your gold is multiplied and all that you have is multiplied, then your
heart be lifted up and you forget God, which brought you forth out of the
land of Egypt, from the house
of bondage.
Deuteronomy
8:15 Who led thee through that great and terrible wilderness, wherein
were fiery serpents and scorpions and drought, where there was no water;
who brought thee forth water out of the rock of flint.
Exodus
17:2-7.
Deuteronomy
8:16 Who fed you in the wilderness with manna,
which your fathers knew not, that he might humble
you and that he might prove you.(God
tests us so we will come to know how our character is; why?),
to do you good at your latter
end.(as
God did in the life of Job:.Job
8:22).
To
improve us, God designs circumstances. He is the master
potter:.Romans
8:28.
Deuteronomy
8:17 And you say in your heart, My power and the might of mine hand.(the
things from arrogance
which are selfishness, greed and control).has
gotten me this wealth.(the
ego's 'I am the greatest' and 'I see none as great as I am', that type
of attitude and what does the true God look for in us?.Isaiah
66:2).
Deuteronomy
8:18 But you shall remember the
Lord your God.
For it is he that gives you power to get wealth.(1Chronicles
29:12), that he may establish his
covenant which he sware unto your fathers, as it is this day.
If
you have wealth, there's a purpose for you to use it for (*).
Deuteronomy 8:19 And it shall be, if you do at all
forget the Lord your God and walk after other Gods and serve them and worship
them, I testify against you this day that you shall surely perish.
Deuteronomy
8:19 And it shall be, if you do at all forget the Lord your God and
walk after other Gods.(what
you worship is your
God; it's talking about people who highly value the things of selfishness,
their idols {Jeremiah
22:13}, greed,
deceit,
lies and control; what were these 'Gods' talked about here?.Deuteronomy
8:17).and serve them and worship
them.(people have mostly
put value on the things of the self and little, if any, on the things of
the real true God who would give them all the good he wants them to have
{John 10:10; 3John
1:2}; what Gods
would they be today? what
were they yesterday?), I testify against you this day that you
shall surely perish.(how?).(Joshua
24:20).
Deuteronomy 8:20 As the nations which the Lord
destroyed before your face, so shall you perish, because you would not
be obedient unto the voice of the Lord your God.
Deuteronomy
8:20 As the nations which the Lord destroyed before your face, so shall
you perish, because you would not be obedient unto the voice.(the
Creator's 'voice' is to love and care for others {*};
those who are selfish hurt
their family and friends;.Jeremiah
17:11; Jude 1:3-19).of
the Lord your
God.(whose
'voice' was to always be loving and caring:.verse
16).
