Genesis
9:1 And God blessed
Noah and his sons and said unto them, Be fruitful and multiply and replenish
the Earth.
Genesis
9:2 And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast
of the Earth and upon every fowl of the air, upon all that moves upon the
Earth and upon all the fishes of the sea; into your hand are they delivered.
Genesis
9:3,4 Every moving thing that lives shall be meat.(food).for
you.(eat
anything); even as the green herb have I given you all things.
But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall
you not eat.(don't
eat things that are alive).
Genesis
9:5,6 And surely your blood of your lives will I require; at the hand
of every beast will I require it and at the hand of man; at the hand of
every man's brother will I require the life of man. Whoso sheds man's blood,
by man shall his blood be shed, for in the image of God made he man.
What
does 'in the image of God' mean?
Genesis
9:7 And you, be you fruitful and multiply. Bring forth abundantly in
the Earth and multiply therein.
Genesis
9:8-10 And God spake unto Noah and to his sons with him, saying, And
I, behold, I establish my covenant
with you and with your seed after you; And with every living creature that
is with you, of the fowl, of the cattle and of every beast of the Earth
with you; from all that go out of the ark, to every beast of the Earth.
Genesis
9:11 And I will establish my covenant with you; neither shall all flesh
be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any more
be a flood to destroy the Earth.
Genesis
9:12 And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between
me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations.
Genesis
9:13 I do set my bow in the cloud and it shall be for a token of a
covenant between me and the Earth.
Genesis
9:14 And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the Earth,
that the bow shall be seen in the cloud;
Genesis
9:15 And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and
every living creature of all flesh and the waters shall no more become
a flood to destroy all flesh.
Genesis
9:16 And the bow shall be in the cloud and I will look upon it, that
I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature
of all flesh that is upon the Earth.
Genesis
9:17 And God said unto Noah, This is the token of the covenant, which
I have established between me and all flesh that is upon the Earth.
Genesis
9:18,19 And the sons of Noah, that went forth of the ark.(after
the
flood), were Shem and Ham and Japheth and Ham is the
father of Canaan.(Genesis
10:17-19). These are the three sons of Noah and of them
was the whole Earth overspread.
Genesis
9:20,21 And Noah began to be an husbandman
and he planted a vineyard and he drank of the wine and was drunken and
he was uncovered within his tent.
Genesis
9:22 And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father
and told his two brethren without.
Genesis
9:23 And Shem and Japheth took a garment and laid it upon both their
shoulders and went backward and covered the nakedness of their father and
their faces were backward and they saw not their father's nakedness.
Genesis
9:24,25 And Noah awoke from his wine and knew what his younger son
had done unto him. And he said, Cursed be Canaan.(Canaan
was the 4th son of Ham who was Noah's youngest son:.Genesis
10:6; what is the significance of him being cursed? Did it mean one
quarter of Ham's descendants only would be cursed? who knows? Canaan was
son of Ham and grandson of Noah, verses 9:18,19 above); a
servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren.
Genesis
9:26 And he said, Blessed be the Lord God of Shem and Canaan shall
be his servant.
Genesis
9:27 God shall enlarge Japheth.(Ezekiel
27:13) and he shall dwell in the
tents of Shem and Canaan
shall be his servant.
Genesis
9:28,29 And Noah lived after the flood three hundred and fifty years.
And all the days of Noah were nine hundred and fifty years and he died.
How
many years from the making of Adam to the birth of Noah were there?.Genesis
5:28,29.
Genesis
10:1 Now these are the generations of the sons of.Noah,
Shem,
Ham.and.Japheth.(and
the
map of how they spread out into a great people).and
unto them were sons born after the
flood.
Genesis
10:2 The sons of Japheth were Gomer and Magog
and Madai and Javan and Tubal and Meshech
and Tiras.
Genesis
10:3 And the sons of Gomer were Ashkenaz
and Riphath and Togarmah.
Genesis
10:4 And the sons of Javan were Elishah and Tarshish, Kittim and Dodanim.
Genesis
10:5 By these were the isles of the Gentiles.(word
'Gentiles' here, in original is 'nations').divided
in their lands. Every one after his tongue.(by
this time after the flood {Genesis
8:13} different dialects
had been developed and then the major change in languages:.Genesis
11:1-9), after their families, in their nations.
Genesis
10:6 And the sons of Ham,
Cush.(the
eldest son of Ham from whose descendants
became the Ethiopians.{map};
in ancient Egyptian inscriptions Ethiopia is termed
'Kesh').and Mizraim.(Easton's
Dictionary:."the
whole country of Egypt is generally mentioned under the dual name of Mizraim.(Ezekiel
30:14), "the two Mazors.".Comprised
with.Bible
Dictionaries:.Mizraim
was a son of Ham and father of various African races, but particularly
of the Egyptians, to whom his name was given. Mizraim is also the Hebrew
word for Egypt in the Bible and this country is still called Misr
in Arabic. By the division of that land into Upper and Lower Egypt, the
word 'Mizraim' is a dual form of the word 'matzor', meaning a 'mound' or
'fortress').and Phut.(3rd
among Ham's sons, descendants settled between Egypt and Canaan
and named the place Phut; they served as mercenaries
in Egyptian armies:.Ezekiel
27:10; Nahum 3:9).and
Canaan.
Genesis
10:7 And the sons of Cush, Seba
and Havilah.(map).and
Sabtah and Raamah and Sabtecha and the sons of Raamah, Sheba and Dedan.
Genesis
10:8 And Cush begat Nimrod. He
began to be a mighty one in the Earth.
Genesis
10:9 He was a mighty hunter before the Lord; wherefore it is said,
Even as Nimrod the mighty hunter before
the Lord.
Genesis
10:10 And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel
and Erech and
Accad
and Calneh, in the land of Shinar.
Genesis
10:11 Out of that land went forth Asshur
and built Nineveh and the cities
Rehoboth and Calah,
Genesis
10:12,13 And the city of Resen between Nineveh and Calah, the same
is a great city. And Mizraim begat Ludim and Anamim and Lehabim and Naphtuhim,
Genesis
10:14 And Pathrusim.(Ezekiel
30:14).and
Casluhim, out of whom came Philistim
and Caphtorim.
Genesis
10:15 And Canaan
begat Sidon, his firstborn
and Heth.
Genesis
10:16 And the Jebusite and
the Amorite and the Girgasite,
Genesis 10:17,18 And the.Hivite.and
the.Arkite.and
the.Sinite. And
the.Arvadite.and
the.Zemarite.and
the.Hamathite.and
afterward were the families of the Canaanites
spread abroad.
Genesis
10:17,18 And the.Hivite.(Exodus
34:11).and the.Arkite.(descendants
of the more ancient Phoenicians,
also called Sidonians, the inhabitants of Arka, 12 miles north of Tripoli,
opposite the northern extremity of Lebanon).and
the.Sinite.(an
inhabitant of Sin, near Arka). And the.Arvadite.(an
inhabitant of the Phoenician
city of Arvad; they were descendants of Canaan
and noted mariners:.Ezekiel
27:8. Arvad provided mariners and soldiers for ancient Tyre;
Arvad is a small rocky island city on the coast of Syria
at the mouth of the river Eleutherus {separating Syria
and Phoenicia}, twenty-two miles north of Tripolis in North Africa; Arvad
is now called ruins of Ruad; Arvad is written Aruada or Arada in the Tell-el-amarna
tablets).and the.Zemarite.(one
of the Phoenician tribes descended from Ham,
who inhabited the town of Sumra, at the western base of the Lebanon range;
in the Amarna tablets B.C.E.
1400 Zemar or Zumur was one of the most important of the Phoenician cities,
but it afterwards almost disappears from history).and
the.Hamathite.(people
who lived in Hamath, today called Hamah, located in western Syria south-southwest
of Aleppo {city near the Turkish border existing since the beginning of
humanity}; Zumur was a Hittite
center
B.C.E. 2000; later
the great
Solomon used
the area for storage of his goods).and
afterward were the families of the Canaanites
spread abroad.
And there were
other ancient.'...ites':
Genesis
15:19-21.
Genesis
10:19 And the border of the Canaanites was from Sidon,
as thou comest to Gerar.(an
ancient town or place of the Philistines
in the times of Abraham and Isaac, close to Gaza in the south of Judah,
map),
unto Gaza as thou go unto Sodom and
Gomorrah and Admah and Zeboim, even unto Lasha.
Genesis
10:20 These are the sons of Ham,
after their families, after their tongues, in their countries and in their
nations.
Genesis
10:21 Unto Shem also, the father
of all the children of Eber,
the brother of Japheth the elder,
even to him were children born.
Genesis
10:22 The children of Shem; Elam
and Asshur and Arphaxad and Lud and Aram.
Genesis
10:23 And the children of Aram; Uz and Hul and Gether and Mash.
Genesis
10:24 And Arphaxad begat Salah and Salah begat Eber.(great-grandson
of Shem;
compare Heber).
Genesis
10:25 And unto Eber
were born two sons; the name of one was Peleg.(his
name means 'division'), for in his days was the Earth divided.(confusion
of languages, chapter 11:4-9, below).and
his brother's name was Joktan.
Genesis
10:26-30 And Joktan begat Almodad and Sheleph and Hazarmaveth and Jerah
and Hadoram and Uzal and Diklah and Obal and Abimael and Sheba and Ophir
and Havilah and Jobab. All these were the sons of Joktan. And their dwelling
was from Mesha, as you go unto Sephar a mount of the east.
Genesis
10:31 These are the sons of Shem,
after their families, after their tongues, in their lands, after their
nations.
Genesis
10:32 These are the families of the sons of Noah,
after their generations, in their nations and by these were the nations
divided in the Earth after the flood.
Genesis
11:1 And the whole Earth was of one language and of one speech.
They
all used the same words the same way, then what
happened?
Genesis
11:2 And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they
found a plain in the land of Shinar and they dwelt there.
Genesis
11:3 And they said one to another, Go
to, let us make brick and burn them throughly. And they had brick for
stone and slime had they for morter.
How
did they know how to do this at the beginning of humanity's recorded history
on Earth? The Earth
was remade. At this early stage in man's history we see also these
early technologies:.Genesis
4:20-22. Man was intelligent enough to learn right from the get go,
but who
was teaching humanity? Or did the knowledge of all this come from the Akashic
Record. Where did their one language come from and who may have taught
it to them?
Genesis
11:4 And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower.(the
tower
of Babel), whose top may reach unto heaven and let us
make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole
Earth.
Out
of touch with the Infinite One and fearful. Let's get together in our own
little
cult so
we can be recognized as greater than what each of us are individually.
Ever hear of gangs, ever hear of private clubs and lodges, ever hear 'that's
our
church'. Why did they figure they would be scattered over all the Earth
if they didn't have a name for their group?
Genesis
11:5 And the Lord came down.(simply
means to use one's attention; Creator doesn't have to go anywhere to know
what's going on).to see the
city and the tower, which the children of men builded.
Genesis
11:6 And the Lord said, Behold, the people is one and they have all
one language and this they begin to do and now nothing will be restrained
from them which they have imagined to do.
And
so, the story of humanity's history carries on to today, where he still
hasn't learned the way of love and
peace
and he never will solve the problems of life from the ordinary thinking
level
he is at, why?
Genesis
11:7.Go to.(words
'go to'), let
us.(who
were the 'us'?).go down.(see
verse 5).and there confound
their language, that they may not understand one another's speech.
Genesis
11:8 So the Lord scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of
all the Earth and they left off to build the city.(stopped
building it).
Genesis
11:9 Therefore is the name of it called Babel,
because the Lord did there confound the language of all the Earth and from
thence did the Lord scatter them abroad upon the face of all the Earth.
How
were they scattered, if not by first spending some time to find out which
ones of them now had the same language? Then those who understood the language
probably took off to go to where they all could be.
Genesis
11:10-15 These are the generations of Shem.(Shem
was one of the three sons of Noah, the others being Ham and Japheth; note
how the ages of living declined as the generations carried on).
Shem was an hundred years old and begat Arphaxad two years after the flood.
And Shem lived after he begat Arphaxad five hundred years and begat sons
and daughters.(Shem
lived 600 years). And Arphaxad
lived five and thirty years and begat Salah. And Arphaxad lived after he
begat Salah four hundred and three years and begat sons and daughters.(Arphaxad
lived 438 years). And Salah
lived thirty years and begat Eber.(another
spelling for Heber).
And Salah lived after he begat Eber
four hundred and three years and begat sons and daughters.(Salah
lived 433 years).
Genesis
11:16 And Eber lived four and thirty years and begat Peleg.(his
name means 'division':.Genesis
10:25).
Genesis
11:17-25 And Eber lived after he begat Peleg
another four hundred and thirty years and begat sons and daughters.(Eber
lived 464 years). Reu was born
to Peleg in his thirtieth year. And Peleg lived after he begat Reu two
hundred and nine years and begat sons and daughters.(Peleg
lived 239 years). And Reu lived
two and thirty years and begat Serug. And Reu lived after he begat Serug
two hundred and seven years and begat sons and daughters.(Reu
lived 239 years). And Serug
lived thirty years and begat Nahor. And Serug lived after he begat Nahor
two hundred years and begat sons and daughters.(Serug
lived 230 years). And Nahor
lived nine and twenty years and begat Terah.(father
of Abraham). And Nahor
lived after he begat Terah an hundred and nineteen years and begat sons
and daughters.(Nahor
lived 148 years).
Genesis
11:26 When Terah had lived seventy years he begat Abram.(Creator
later changed his name to Abraham),
Nahor and Haran.
Genesis
11:27 Now these are the generations of Terah. Terah begat Abram, Nahor
and Haran and Haran begat Lot.
Genesis
11:28 And Haran died before his father Terah in the land of his nativity,
in Ur of the Chaldees.
Genesis 11:29 And Abram and Nahor took them wives.
The name of Abram's wife was Sarai and the name of Nahor's wife, Milcah,
the daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah and the father of Iscah.
Genesis
11:29 And Abram and Nahor
took them wives. The name of Abram's wife was Sarai.(Sarai's
named changed to Sarah {Genesis 17:15}
and in New Testament, spelled Sara:.Romans
9:9;
Hebrews 11:11; 1Peter
3:6) and the name of Nahor's wife, Milcah, the daughter of Haran,
the father of Milcah and the father of Iscah.
Genesis 11:31 And Terah took Abram his son and Lot
the son of Haran his son's son and Sarai his daughter in law, his son Abram's
wife and they went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into
the land of Canaan and they came unto Haran and dwelt there.
Genesis
11:31 And Terah took Abram his son and Lot the son of Haran his son's
son.(here his nephew,
yet in Genesis 14:14 he is called
a brother, why?).and
Sarai his daughter in law.(translators
supply no original for this phrase 'daughter in law' other than the word
'perfected', which, in context,
makes little sense, but 'daughter in law' may fit depending on their customs
back then of which we know not enough to comment intelligently),
his son Abram's wife.(original
for word 'wife' is just 'woman').and
they went forth with them from Ur
of the
Chaldees,
to go into the land
of Canaan and they came unto Haran and dwelt there.
Genesis
12:1 Now the Lord had said unto Abram,
Get thee out of your country and from thy kindred and from your father's
house, unto a land that I will show you..(?)
Genesis
12:2 And I will make.(original
for phrase 'And I will make of you' is understood as 'through your posterity
shall become').of you
a great nation.(original
is also 'people').and
I will bless you and make your name great and you shall be a blessing.
Genesis
12:3 And I will bless them that bless you and curse him that curses
you. And in you.(or,
because of you; why?).all
families of the Earth are blessed.(and
this includes us today:.Acts
3:25.
Genesis
13:16 "And I will make your seed as the dust of the Earth, so that
if a man can number the dust of the Earth, then shall your seed also be
numbered."
Genesis
15:5 "And he brought him forth abroad and said, Look now toward heaven
and tell the stars, if you be able to number them and he said unto him,
So shall your seed be."
Genesis
17:2 "And I will make my covenant between me and you and will multiply
you exceedingly."
Genesis
17:5 "Neither shall your name any more be called Abram, but your name
shall be Abraham, for a father of many nations have I made thee."
Genesis
18:18 "Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation
and all the nations of the Earth shall be blessed in him?
Genesis
22:17 "That in blessing I will bless you and in multiplying I will
multiply your seed as the stars of the heaven and as the sand which is
upon the sea shore and your seed shall possess the gate of his enemies."
This was the
essence
of the promise God made to Abraham.
God called Abraham a friend of His:.James
2:23. God made a promise to Abraham which is wonderfully to affect
us
today and has started. And all this
because Abraham loved and believed God's ways were the best and these good
ways of God have affected some of us all down through history
to
today:.Genesis
15:6; 17:23; Romans
4:3; Galatians 3:6. What
today are the good ways of God that could really help us immensely?
Genesis
12:4 So Abram departed, as the Lord had spoken unto him and Lot
went with him. And Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed
out of Haran.
Genesis
12:5 And Abram took Sarai
his wife and Lot
his brother's son and all their substance that they had gathered and the
souls that they had gotten in Haran and they went forth to go into the
land of Canaan and
into the land of Canaan they came.
Genesis
12:6 And Abram passed through the land unto the place of Sichem.(Genesis
35:4), unto the plain of Moreh. And the Canaanite was
then in the land.
Genesis
12:7 And God appeared unto Abram and said, Unto your seed will
I give this land. And there builded he an altar unto God, who appeared
unto him.(*).
Genesis
12:8 And he removed from thence unto a mountain on the east of Bethel
and pitched his tent, having Bethel on the west and Hai on the east and
there he builded an altar unto the Lord and called upon the name of the
Lord.
Genesis
12:9-13 And Abram
journeyed, going on still toward the south. And there was a famine in the
land and Abram went down into Egypt to sojourn there, for the famine was
grievous in the land. And it came to pass, when he was come near to enter
into Egypt, that he said unto Sarai his wife, Behold now, I know that you
are a fair woman to look upon. Therefore it shall come to pass, when the
Egyptians shall see thee, that they shall say, This is his wife. And they
will kill me, but they will save you alive. Say, I pray of you, you are
my sister, that it may be well with me for your sake and my soul shall
live because of thee.
Abraham
wanted Sarai (her name was later changed to Sarah:.Genesis
11:29) to let
on to others that she was his sister.
Genesis 12:14,15 And it came to pass, that, when Abram
was come into Egypt, the Egyptians beheld the woman that she was very fair.
The princes also of Pharaoh saw her and commended her before Pharaoh. And
the woman was taken into Pharaoh's house.
Genesis
12:14,15 And it came to pass, that, when Abram.(God
changed
his name to Abraham).was come into
Egypt, the Egyptians beheld the woman that she was very fair. The princes
also of Pharaoh.(which
Pharaoh was this one?).saw her
and commended her before Pharaoh. And the woman was taken into Pharaoh's
house.
Genesis
12:16-20 And he entreated Abram well for her sake. And he had sheep
and oxen and he asses.(donkey).and
menservants and maidservants and she asses and camels. And the Lord plagued
Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai Abram's wife.
And Pharaoh called Abram and said, What is this that you have done unto
me? Why didst you not tell me that she was your wife?
Why said you, She is my sister? so I might have taken her to me to wife.
Now therefore behold your wife, take her and go your way. And Pharaoh commanded
his men concerning him. And they sent him away and his wife and all that
he had.
