Colossians 2:1 For I would that you knew what great conflict I have for you and for them at Laodicea.(one of the most important and flourishing cities of Asia Minor at that time).and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh;

Colossians 2:2 That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love and unto all riches of the full assurance of comprehending toward the acknowledgement of the mystery of God and of the Father and of Christ;
Colossians 2:2 That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love.(original for 'knit together' is 'to make to come together'; in other words, it's love that brings togetherness).and unto.(original can also mean 'into').all riches.(original for 'riches' is 'to fill with abundance').of the full assurance of comprehending.(original for 'comprehending' is 'a full running together'; a running together of what? With that which would make you happy, a running together of soul with desires) to the acknowledgement ('acknowledging' is knowing you have knowledge:.2Peter 1:19; 'in the acknowledgement' can also mean 'into the knowledge of').of the mystery of God.(Revelation 10:7).and of the Father.(*).and of Christ.(*).

Both God and Christ are referred to here as a mystery. What does this mean?

1Timothy 3:16.

Colossians 2:3 In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

Colossians 2:4 And this I say, lest any man should beguile you with enticing words.

Colossians 2:5 For though I be absent in the flesh yet am I with you in the spirit joying and beholding your order and the stedfastness of your faith in Christ.
'Faith in Christ' means one 'believing in Christ', that is, believes he came and did what was recorded of him, that is, believing after proving this of course:.Acts 17:11. Also, believing that he came from God (John 8:42) and believing all those things about him that are true.
Colossians 2:6 As you have therefore received Christ Emmanuel the Lord so walk you in him.(*),
Live your daily life knowing you are in God and He in you. In Christ one continues to grow soiritually.
Colossians 2:7 Rooted and built up in him and stablished in the faith as you have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.
.1Thessalonians 5:18.
Colossians 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit after the tradition of men, after the rudiments.(the fundamental.concepts of the world, where one is 'me first').of the world and not after Christ.
Important to comprehend what Christ is.
Colossians 2:9 For in him dwells all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.

Colossians 2:10 And you are complete in him.(and He is love; love makes and keeps one whole {holy}, complete); if complete in Him, what need is there for anything but expressing that completeness when with others and that completeness is love).which is the head of all principality and power.
Matthew 28:18-20.

You are the well from which the life giving water flows and quenches the thirst of others, that is, if they are thirsty:.Romans 11:4-6.

Colossians 2:11 In whom also you are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ.

Colossians 2:12 Buried with him in baptism wherein also you are risen with him.(words 'him' not in the original, but implied; 'risen with Him' is better translated as 'raised as He was', that is, as far as God is concerned it's a sure fact of your future).through the faith of the operation.(original 'working'; that is, one has faith in God's working).of God, who has raised him from the dead..(?)

Colossians 2:13 And you, being dead in your sins.(although all sin was looked after but you didn't know that, it was the same as them not being all looked after).and the uncircumcision of your.(word 'your', not in original).flesh, has he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;
Original should read 'And being dead and away ('from God', implied) because of the state of sin (state being that sin is now defunct.{*}) has he quickened (1Timothy 6:13) together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses'.

Note: God is the one responsible for evil that exists.(?).and God balances the lives of all of us who have all lived 'as best we could' with the three strokes that God engineered against us here from the beginning. It's simply all part of His marvelous plan, though perhaps somewhat painful for a while:.1Peter 1:6; Romans 5:12,15,16. Hang in there and the light will come.

Colossians 2:14 Blotting out the handwriting.(Deuteronomy 9:10).of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us.(contrary to our bright future:.1Corinthians 2:9).and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
All past, present and any future sins are now out of our way. They never did count anyway with God, because each of us were saved from the beginning, but never knew that:.2Timothy 1:9.
Colossians 2:15 And having spoiled.(original is 'separated from that which is put off).principalities and powers, he made a show of them openly.(Luke 8:17), triumphing over them in it.
It's talking about the cross; see previous verse.

It's talking about how to put off these powers of darkness:.Ephesians 6:12

Colossians 2:16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat.(eating).or in drink.or in respect of an holyday.(festival).or of the new moon.(others may think it strange of you when they keep some monthly festival and you don't).or of the sabbath days.(word 'days' not in original in this verse).

Colossians 2:17 Which are a shadow of things to come, but the body of Christ.(here being as the original has it).

Colossians 2:18 Let no man beguile you of your reward by their using a phony voluntary humility.(their beguiling of you begins by them feigning.piosity to gain both control over you and some advantage for them from you).and worshipping of angels.(another ploy of their beguiling of you would be making you think they have relationship with angels:.2Corinthians 10:18; 2Timothy 3:5), intruding into those things which he has not seen.(advising you to head in some direction in life that they themselves wouldn't go and of course not telling that to you), vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,
Satanic people feign their true intent:.James 4:7. How to find out who they may be.

Comprised with.Barnes Notes: The meaning is, that false teachers, teachers who appear with a form of religion, would not announce their opinions with dogmatic.certainty, but they would put on the appearance of modesty, for no false teachers are so dangerous as those who assume the aspect of great humility and who appear as though they possess reverence for divine things:.2Corinthians 11:3,13-15.

Colossians 2:19 And not holding.(with above verse, means, let no one con you out and away from Christ the head of all things spiritual; all is spirit).the Head.(Ephesians 1:22; 4:15,16), from which all the body by joints and bands having nourishment ministered and knit together, increases with the increase of God.

Colossians 2:20.Wherefore if you be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world.(the way the world runs is from the egos of those in it:.Romans 3:17), why, as though living in the world.(that is, now that you have a higher focus:.Matthew 6:33; 7:13), are you subject to ordinances,
Bible meaning for word ordinances is rules and requirements of the law. What law? Original drills down to 'see where something is not in line with God's good law for man', by searching to discover where some so-called law, rule, regulation, statute, mandate is simply imposed without permission from We the People to be affected by it:.Matthew 26:41; Romans 13:1-8.
Colossians 2:21 Touch not; taste not; handle not;

Colossians 2:22 Which all are to perish with the using, after the commandments and doctrines of men?
Such as the phony corrupt Pharisees, et al, did for a show:.Matthew 23:5.
Colossians 2:23 Which things have indeed a show of wisdom in will worship.(Adam Clarke's Commentary:."what is here termed will worship signifies simply a mode of worship.{compliance to}.which a man chooses for himself.".(*).and humility and neglecting of the body, not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh.(such things are worthless spiritually and physically).
