11:1 I say then, Has God cast away his people? God forbid. For I also
am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.
11:2 God has not cast away his people which he foreknew. Wot
you not what the scripture saith of Elias.(the
Greek form of Elijah)? how
he makes intercession to God against Israel, saying,
11:3 Lord, they have killed your prophets and digged down your altars,
and I am left alone and they seek my life.
11:4,5 But what says the answer of God unto him? I have reserved to
myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to the image of
Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to
the election of grace.
11:6 And if by grace,
then is it no more of works, otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it
be of works, then is it no more grace, otherwise work is no more work.
11:7 What then? Israel
has not obtained that which he seeks for, but the
election has obtained it and the rest were blinded.(most
on the Earth may still be in that state).
11:8-10 According as it is written, God has given them the spirit of
slumber, eyes that they should not see and ears that they should not hear
unto this day. And David said, Let their table be made a snare and a trap
and a stumblingblock and a recompence unto them. Let their eyes be darkened,
that they may not see and bow down their back alway.
11:11 I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid.
But rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles.(a
in the Old
Testament was one not of the people of God back then, the people then
who wanted nothing to do with God:.Jeremiah
44:16,17; today it similarly
means those who aren't interested in God for whatever reason),
for to provoke them to jealousy..(?)
11:12,13 Now if the fall of them be the riches of the world and the
diminishing of them the riches of the Gentiles, how much more their fulness?
For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles,
I magnify mine office.
11:14 If by any means I may provoke to emulation.(Paul
wanted others to follow his example in his hotness
for the truth:.2Corinthians
11:23-30).them which are
my flesh and might save some of them.(Acts
word 'save' here is 'sozo' which has as one of its
meanings, 'to make whole', that is, one is not whole until he or she
has the knowledge of why they are and toward this, they
11:15 For if the casting away of them.(Israel).be
the reconciling of the world, what shall the receiving of them be, but
from the dead?
Israel was hopeless spiritually, so much so.almost.all
(Romans 9:27; Isaiah
10:20-22) about them was wiped out:.2Chronicles
36:10; the spiritual
Israel is hopeful for everyone;.JFB
were cast away, though neither totally nor finally and it is of this partial
and temporary rejection that the apostle Paul here speaks")
11:16 For if the first fruit be holy, the lump is also holy. And if
the root be holy, so are the branches.
11:17-19 And if some of the branches be broken off and you, being a
wild olive tree, were graffed in among them and with them partake of the
root and fatness of the olive tree, boast not against the branches. But
if you boast, you bear not the root, but the root you. You will say then,
The branches were broken off, that I might be graffed in.
11:20 Well, because of unbelief they were broken off and you stand
by faith. Be not highminded, but fear.
11:21 For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he
also spare not thee.
Romans 11:22 Behold therefore the goodness and
severity of God. On them which fell, severity; but toward you, goodness,
if you continue in his goodness. Otherwise you also shall be cut off.
11:22 Behold therefore the goodness and severity.(original
'sharpness, abruptness, curtness'; in other words God doesn't play head
games; the universe is set up so men and women indeed reap
what they have sown:.Daniel
so, always do your best, why?).of
God. On them which fell, severity; but toward you, goodness, if you continue
in his goodness. Otherwise you also shall be cut off..(it's
an automatic thing; if you're out of the attitude of love and into selfishness,
hate, me first, screw you, then you've allowed your
ego to cut you off from all the good
stuff for you in the universe)
11:23,24 And they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall
be graffed in, for God is able to graff them in again. For if thou wert
cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature and wert graffed contrary
to nature into a good olive tree, how much more shall these, which be the
natural branches, be graffed into their own olive tree?
11:25 For I would not, brethren, that you should be ignorant of this
mystery, lest you should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in
part is happened to Israel,
fulness of the Gentiles be come in.
Romans 11:26 And so all Israel shall be saved.
As it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer and shall
turn away ungodliness from Jacob.
11:26 And so all Israel.(the
Israel of the New Testament, meaning all those of God are 'Israelites',
spiritually speaking).shall be saved.
As it is written.(Isaiah
59:20), There shall come out of Sion
4:22 ...salvation is of the tribe of Judah, through
whom the One we know as Emmanuel today, came).and
shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob.(ancient
Jacob whose name was changed to Israel, is used in the New Testament for
those who love God:.Genesis
11:27 For this is my covenant unto them.(that
they will all be saved:.John
17:12), when I shall take away their sins.
11:28 As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes.(to
you still thinking as your forefathers did in Old Testament time, the Gentiles
are still enemies), but as touching the election,
they are beloved for the fathers' sakes..(?)
11:29 For the gifts
calling of God are

11:30,31 For as you in times past have not believed
God, yet have now obtained mercy through their unbelief.(in
other words you were the same). Even so have these also now
was here talking about, at this time in the life of Paul),
that through your mercy they also may obtain mercy.(how
does this work?.1,
11:32 For God has concluded

11:33 O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of
God! how unsearchable are his judgments and his ways past finding out!.(and
always will be unless we look
beyond the information coming to us from our 5 senses)
11:34 For who has known the
mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor?
11:35 Or who has first given to him and it shall be recompensed unto

3:21), to whom be glory
for ever. Amen.
