Proud individuals
are not easily
entreated:.James
3:17 "But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle.(original
Greek is 'to exhibit appropriate behavior at all times', 'to superimpose
that over how you feel', 'to yield', 'to give place').and
easy
to be entreated.(original
Greek is 'being well convinced of what you believe, yet not being
stubborn in not allowing others room for discussion'),
full of mercy
and good fruits, without partiality.(original
Greek is 'withdrawing from others').and
without hypocrisy.".Were
you taught to be afraid of strangers?.Hebrews
13:2 "Be not forgetful to entertain strangers.(that
is, by hospitable
to all {*}),
for thereby some have entertained angels unawares."
On the word 'intreated',
see.Genesis
25:21 & Matthew 25:21.
Individuals having this
form
of pride are aloof
from being involved with the physical and psychological
needs of others. They look not at what they see but as others should be!
And how do they think others should be? Just like them. They exist not
for the benefit of others but are, as Dave
has said, are 'self inflicted.narcissists'.
Off in a self imposed obscure world of their own greatness, they miss the
treasures of a servant's attitude.
In Matthew
20:26-28, Emmanuel said that if you want to be great, be great in service
to others; giving your life to service. A servant forgets what he
wants, is happy with what he has and is one who's concerned with what the
other wants. A servant attitude shows forth a knowing that God is looking
after him.
We are only here for a
very short time, to develop character necessary for eternity. Some
live this physical life as though it is their prime concern. Get real!
Use this life to set your character. This life for us all will soon be
gone. Forget spending a great amount of time fussing to get the physical
life "all looked after". You will never be satisfied that way.
Service to others is a way
to develop the necessary character quality of humility,
needed for the highest position you can qualify
for in eternal life. Humility and pride cannot coexist.
Galatians
5:13 ".....by love serve one another."
Proverbs
30:13,14 "There is a generation, O how lofty are their eyes! And their
eyelids are lifted up. There is a generation whose teeth are as swords
and their jaw teeth as knives, to devour the poor from off the Earth and
the needy from among men."
Psalms
73:5,6 "They are not in trouble as other men, neither are they plagued
like other men; therefore pride encompasses them as a chain....."
Luke
22:27 "For which is greater? He that sits eating, or he that serves.
Is it not he that serves? I am come among you as he that serves.".So
said Emmanuel.
1John
2:15-17 "Love.(original
Greek is 'rapport').not
the world.(original
Greek is 'the orderly arrangement of things in the world', use them yes,
but don't have such a rapport with them that your frantic over your security,
your home, your this and your that, where physical security becomes uppermost
in your mind), For all that is in the
world, the lust.(original
Greek is 'desires').of
the flesh.('just
gotta get my life secure').and
the lust of the eyes and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is
of the world. And the world passes away and the lust thereof, but he that
does the will of God abides forever."
1John
3:11 "For this is the
message that you heard from the beginning, that we should love
one another."
