About Job

Job 1:1,2 There was a man in the land of Uz.(map of Us situated in Idumea or the land of Edom, in Arabia Petraea, southeast of Palestine, of which it comprised a very large district), whose name was Job and that man was perfect and upright, one that feared God.(what kind of fear is this?).and eschewed evil. And there were born unto him seven sons and three daughters.

Job 1:3 His substance also was seven thousand sheep and three thousand camels and five hundred yoke of oxen and five hundred she asses and a very great household, so that this man was the greatest of all the men of the east.

Job 1:4 And his sons went and feasted in their houses, every one his day.(birthday:.Job 3:1).and sent and called for their three sisters to eat and to drink with them.

Job 1:5 And it was so, when the days of their feasting were gone about, that Job sent and sanctified.(has some special words of direction and encouragement for them).them and rose up early in the morning and offered burnt offerings.(an Old Testament thing they often did way back when, now done away with:.Hebrews 10:1,2).according to the number of them all. For Job said, It may be that my sons have sinned and cursed God in their hearts.(Job was a good dad; he did the best he knew how to for his children). Thus did Job continually.
Today our hearts toward our children are for the best for them, wholeness, health, prosperity, safety, protection, kindness, love and protection. We want these high consciousness things to be in their hearts and lives and so we ask God for these things for them and whenever it comes to mind to do so, we see them as such and do what we can towards that purpose.
Job 1:6 Now there was a day when the sons of God.(Genesis 6:4).came to present themselves before the Lord and Satan came also among them.
Yep! Satan was among them. Satan is the accuser (Revelation 12:10), always trying to find some fault with any human he can find fault with. If Satan is correct in his accusations against one of us, then God often grants certain things Satan can do to straiten each of us up, as the good God did here in Job's life.

Just as we may let a criminal son or daughter come and visit because there still may be some hope for him or her to turn around, so the true and only loving God is that way also. And so, Satan was among them.

If you're in Christ, there's no longer any faullt with you and the dark side beings have nothing to accuse you of, but sometimes our heavenly Father will try our hearts as he did with Job, to bring us up higher spiritually:.Proverbs 3:11-18; Isaiah 13:12; James 1:3; 1Peter 1:7

Job 1:7 And God said unto Satan, Whence comest thou?.(or, whatcha been up to? or, where are you coming from? at this time the 'dark ones' including Satan, interfaced with the true good God of all creation). Then Satan answered God and said, From going to and fro.(Genesis 8:7).in the Earth and from walking up and down in it.
Ezekiel 28:14,15.
Job 1:8 And God said unto Satan, Have you considered my servant Job, that there is none like him.(verse 1 above).in the Earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that fears God and eschews evil?
God took the opportunity of Satan's presence to use it for some correction of Job that Job didn't see he needed, which tells us, Job was more interested in what he was doing in life than about his relationship with God through prayer, meditation, contemplation, etc. Notice how Satan answers by getting after God. He doesn't deal with Job's perfection. He knew an accusation about that would go nowhere. He says, the reason why this man has prospered is because you made it so for him, like saying, Job was no good on his own. It was a denigration of both God's and Job's character:.Revelation 12:10. That's how the dark side is, always against anything that is of God.
Job 1:9 Then Satan answered God and said, Does Job fear God for nought?

Job 1:10 Have not you made an hedge about him.(protection).and about his house and about all that he has on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands and his substance is increased in the land.(prosperity).

Job 1:11 But put forth your hand now and touch all that he has and he will curse you to your face.

Job 1:12 And God said unto Satan, Behold, all that he has is in your power but put not forth your hand to kill him. So Satan went forth from the presence of God.
Went forth to do his work of destruction.
Job 1:13 And there was a day when his sons and his daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother's house.

Job 1:14 And there came a messenger unto Job and said, The oxen were plowing and the asses feeding beside them.

Job 1:15-19 And the Sabeans.(descendants of Seba:.Genesis 10:7).fell upon them and took them away; yea, they have slain the servants with the edge of the sword and I only am escaped alone to tell thee. While he was yet speaking, there came also another and said, The fire of God.(lightning).is fallen from heaven and has burned up the sheep and the servants and consumed them and I only am escaped alone to tell thee. While he was yet speaking, there came also another and said, The Chaldeans made out three bands.(split into three groups).and fell upon the camels and have carried them away, yea and slain the servants with the edge of the sword and I only am escaped alone to tell you. While he was yet speaking, there came also another and said, Your sons and your daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother's house. And behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness and smote the four corners of the house and it fell upon the young men and they are dead and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.

Job 1:20-22 Then Job arose and rent his mantle and shaved his head and fell down upon the ground and worshipped and said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb and naked shall I return thither. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away. Blessed be the name of the Lord. In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly.
