Proverbs
Proverbs
1:1-4 The proverbs
of Solomon the son of David,
king of Israel;
To know wisdom and instruction;
to perceive
the words which provide comprehension
and to receive the instruction of wisdom, justice and judgment and equity.(fairness
in dealings); To give subtilty.(JPS.has
it for 'subtilty', 'prudence').to
the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion.
Note
the givingness to improve others, that is, others who listen and learn.
Proverbs
1:5 A wise
individual will hear.(he
listens and learns).and
will increase learning and one having comprehension
will listen to the wise counsel
of another.
That
is, he'll
acquire
knowledge that he can use to be a better individual:.Proverbs
11:14.
Proverbs
1:6 To know a proverb and the interpretation;
the words of the wise and their dark sayings...
'Dark
sayings' are
riddles,
difficult questions, parables,
enigmatic
sayings or questions, perplexing
sayings or questions, not easily seen without contemplation.
Proverbs
1:7 The fear of God is the
beginning of knowledge, but fools.despise.wisdom
and instruction.(*).
Proverbs
1:8 My son, hear the instruction of your father and forsake
not the law of your mother.
Don't
be like many
who don't
listen to learn and don't contemplate,
working mentally with what they've learnt
to improve.
Listen to your parents and family members. Consider their advice and their
lessons and philosophy
of life.
Proverbs
1:10-14 My son, if sinners entice you, consent
you not. If they say, Come with us, let us lay wait for blood.(take
advantage of the helpless), let us
lurk.privily
for the innocent without cause.(just
to see what we can get from him or her). Let us swallow them
up alive as the grave and whole.(let's
not care about them at all), as those that go down into the
pit.(they
are worthless ones anyhow). We shall find all their precious
substance.(and
we'll find and take it all by blackmailing
them and by threatening them and their family), we shall
fill our houses with spoil.
Cast in your lot among us, let us all have one purse.(we'll
split evenly what we get from them).
Important
to learn how to keep yourself.out
of trouble:.Proverbs
1: all this chapter and 5:7,11-13,22,23;
6:1-3;
12:13;
Psalms
69:17. One of the ways is to
listen
to learn.
Proverbs
1:15-18 My son, walk not you in the way with them; refrain
your foot from their path, for their feet run to evil.(they
are getting into big trouble).and
make haste to shed blood.(they
don't care if someone gets hurt as long as they get qhat they want).
Surely in vain the net is spread in the sight of any bird.(surely
anyone can see where they are headed in life if they become as they are).
And they lay wait for their own blood.(what
they do they
do to themselves); they lurk.privily
for their own lives.
Their
purpose of the evil ones has always been out to see what they can get for
the self, not realizing selfish acts that put others at some disadvantage,
always come back on them
on them 20 fold.
Proverbs
1:19 So are the ways of every one that is greedy of gain; which takes
away the life of the owners thereof.(James
1:15).
The
fool
doesn't realize these ways are tricks
of the devil to eventually destroy him. Many rich people are
fools:.Psalms
39:6; Psalms
49:6,10 "They that trust in their wealth and boast themselves in the
multitude of their riches...the fool and the brutish individual perish
and leave their wealth to others.".And
such was ancient king Benhadad.
Proverbs
1:20,21 Wisdom cries without. She utters her voice in the streets.
She cries in the chief place of concourse,
in the openings of the gates. In the city she utters her words, saying,
Proverbs
1:22 How long you simple ones
will you love simplicity? And the scorners.(Proverbs
9:7,8).delight in their
scorning and fools hate knowledge?
The
simple one does whatever at the present he feels he wants to, with no idea
and/or regard for what his present actions may mean later to him or to
others affected.
Proverbs
1:23 Turn you at my reproof.(learn).and
behold,
I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.
That
is, they'll lead you in comprehension
of the import
of what I'm saying.
Proverbs
1:24-30 But because I.(God).have
called and you refused I have stretched out my hand and no man regarded.(they
didn't
listen), but you have set at nought
all my counsel.(set
aside all God's words of advice
for your life to be better).and
would none of my reproof.(didn't
care at all when I brought it to your attention), I also
will laugh at your calamity
and I will mock
when your fear comes. When your fear comes as desolation and your destruction
comes as a whirlwind,
when distress
and anguish
comes upon you, then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer. They
shall seek me early, but they shall not
find me, for that they hated knowledge and did not choose the fear
of the Lord.(what's
this?). They wanted none of my counsel.(Jeremiah
5:23-28; 44:16,17).and
despised all my reproof.
Proverbs
1:31 Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way and be
filled with their own devices.
Ecclesiastes
7:29.
Proverbs
1:32 For the turning away.(turning
away from
wisdom, see earlier
verses).of the simple.(those
not thinking in time; reacting only to the moment).shall
slay them and the prosperity of fools.(those
addicted to wealth and power spend their lives missing the spiritual because
their efforts are always toward selfish advantage; but they
die anyway and then what do they have:.Jeremiah
6:15-17).shall destroy them.
Proverbs
2:2 So that you incline your ear unto wisdom and apply your heart to
comprehending.
Begin
on the pathway of comprehension and you'll arrive at an overstanding.
Proverbs
2:3-5 Yea, if you cry after knowledge.(Matthew
7:7,8).and lift up your
voice for comprehending.(care
enough to find out truth on things, such as what
David Straight reveals; a good place to start).and
if
you seek her as silver and search for her as for hid treasures, then
you'll find out the fear.(?).of
the Lord.(what's
the 'Lord'?).and find the
knowledge of God.
Matthew
7:7.
Proverbs
2:6 For God gives wisdom.
Out of his mouth comes knowledge and comprehension.
Proverbs
2:7 He lays up sound wisdom for the righteous.(and
who
are they?). He is a buckler.(shield).to
them that walk uprightly.
Proverbs
2:8,9 He keeps the paths of judgment and preserves the way of his saints.(Deuteronomy
33:2). Then shall you understand righteousness and judgment
and equity, yea, every good path.
Proverbs
2:10 When wisdom enters into your heart and knowledge is pleasant unto
your soul;
Proverbs
2:11 Discretion shall preserve you, understanding shall keep you.
Proverbs
2:12,13.To
deliver you from the way of the evil man, from the man that speaks
froward.(original
'manipulate to gain selfish advantage', the way the
ego is).things; Who leave
the paths of uprightness.(*).to
walk in the ways of darkness.
Proverbs
2:14 Who rejoice to do evil and delight in the frowardness
of the wicked;
Why?
because some selfish advantage is gained by being so.
Proverbs
2:15 Whose ways are crooked and they are froward
in their paths.
Proverbs
2:16 To deliver you from the strange woman, even from the stranger
which flatters with her words;
Proverbs
2:17-20 Which forsakes the guide of her youth and forgets the covenant
of her God. For her house inclines unto death and her paths unto the dead.
None that go unto her return again, neither take they hold of the paths
of life. That you may walk in the way of good men and keep the paths of
the righteous.
Proverbs
3:1,2 My son, forget not my law.(what
law today?), but let your heart keep my commandments,
for length of days and long life and peace, shall they add to you.
There
in Proverbs, the wise Solomon
was able to delineate
the higher consciousness of love from the Mosaic
Law in effect back then, seeing the intent of God behind all the over
600+ laborious
do's and don'ts of rules, regulations, etc.
Proverbs
3:3 Let not mercy and truth forsake you. Bind them about your neck.
Write them upon the table of your heart.
Remember
them always.
Proverbs
3:4 So shall you find favour
and good understanding in the sight of God and man.
Proverbs
3:5 Trust
in the Lord
with all your heart and lean not unto your
own innerstanding.
Lean
not to the things that make you think that you should immediately do something
about them:.Psalms
37:7. Learn about intuition.
Learn how most people are without God's guidance:.Proverbs
14:12. Avoid being in a big rush in life. A big rush can shove
you away from what God may be telling
you,
We often lurch
off to solutions of our own concocting,
not
realizing
the Creator can alter.circumstances
in life right
where we are at, like, what's
not possible for the Creator to do for you? An example of leaning unto
your own understanding would be if you know it's honest to return the wallet
you found with a lot of money in it, but you need the money so badly at
this time and so you think, God probably has worked this all out to help
me out of my present dilemma.
Not so!.(Proverbs
30:9 "Lest I be full and deny you and say, Who is the Lord? or lest
I be poor and steal and take the name of my God in
vain."). Nothing ever precludes
the higher
consciousness ways of love, of which honesty is one of love's attributes
and by those is how God operates. Learn to rely upon the Creator:.Proverbs
13:12.
Proverbs
3:6 In all your ways.(including
your thinking about what to do).acknowledge
him.(that
is,
acknowledge
that God is indeed
with you; talk silently to the Creator about all and anything of
importance to you at any time, why?.Matthew
6:33; Luke 11:9).and
he shall direct your paths.(original
is 'way').
Proverbs
3:7 Be not wise in your own eyes.(and
you won't be if you follow what's in the previous verse).
Fear.(?).the
Lord and depart.(go
away from).from evil.
Also
includes your thoughts. Fear results of negative thoughts manifesting
in life, should help an individual stay on the
side of good thinking. Get Dr.
Joe Murphy's wisdom on it.
Proverbs
3:8 It shall be health to your navel and marrow to your bones.
Proverbs
3:9 Honour the Lord with your substance and with the firstfruits of
all your increase.
It's
saying to be thanful to God. Increase would not mean just some small increase
in say, wages, where even with that, one is overall, not really getting
ahead. Ask yourself if you can comfortably be generous. If you can't, consider
it later sometime, when you think you may be able to. God doesn't need
your money. God wants one's heart to be inclined toward Him.
Proverbs
3:10 So shall your barns be filled with plenty and your presses shall
burst out with new wine.
Proverbs
3:11 My son, despise not the chastening of the Lord, neither be weary
of his correction.
Proverbs
3:12 For whom the Lord loves he corrects, even as a father the son
in whom he delights.
Hebrews
12:6.
Proverbs
3:13-18 Happy is the man that finds wisdom
and the man that gets comprehension. For the merchandise of it is better
than the merchandise of silver and the gain thereof than fine gold. She
is more precious than rubies and all the things you can desire are not
to be compared unto her. Length of days is in her right hand and in her
left hand riches and honour. Her ways are ways of pleasantness and all
her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her
and happy is every one that retains her.
Proverbs
3:19 The Lord by wisdom has founded the Earth; by comprehension
has he established the heavens.
That
is, our present knowledge of such things can be gained in higher consciousness,
where one knows just what to do with what he or she thinks should be done.
Proverbs
3:20 By his knowledge the depths are broken up and the clouds drop
down the dew.
Proverbs
3:21-23 My son, let not them.(the
ways of wisdom as described just above in this chapter).depart
from your eyes. Keep sound wisdom and prudence.
So shall they be life unto your soul and grace to your neck. Then shall
you walk in your way safely and your foot shall not stumble.
Proverbs
3:24 When you lie down, you shall not be afraid. Yea, you shall lie
down and your sleep shall be sweet.(Psalms
127:2; *).
Proverbs
3:25,26 Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither
of the desolation of the wicked, when it comes. For the Lord shall be your
confidence and shall keep your foot from being taken.
Proverbs
3:27 Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the
power of your hand to do it.
Proverbs
3:28 Say not unto your neighbour, Go and come again and tomorrow I
will give, when you have it by you.
Proverbs
3:31 Envy you not the oppressor and choose none of his ways.
Proverbs
3:33 The curse of the Lord is in the house of the wicked, but he blesses
the habitation of the just.
Proverbs
3:35 The wise shall inherit glory,
but shame shall be the promotion of fools.
Proverbs
4:1,2 Hear, you children, the instruction of a father and attend to
know understanding.(listen
so as to learn the good things that can help you in life and get the true
meaning of things). For I give you good doctrine.(instruction).
Forsake you not my law.
The
law he followed are the things which he has learned that worked in his
life and he wants to pass what he has learned on to you.
Proverbs
4:3 For I too was my father's son, as you are mine, tender and beloved
in the sight of my mother.
Proverbs
4:4 He taught me also and said unto me, Let your heart retain my words.(he
also said unto me, as I'm saying unto you), keep my commandments.(the
things he learned which worked well for him).and
live.
Proverbs
4:5,6 Get wisdom, get understanding. Forget it not. neither decline
from the words of my mouth. Forsake her not and she shall preserve you.
Love her and she shall keep you.
Proverbs
4:7.Wisdom
is the principal
thing, therefore get wisdom and with all your getting get understanding.
Original
for word 'understanding' is 'discernment',
'insight' *.
Deuteronomy
8:18.
Proverbs
4:8,9.Exalt
her and she shall promote you. She shall bring you to honour, when you
embrace her. She shall give to your head an ornament of grace. A crown
of glory shall she deliver to you.
Proverbs
4:10 Hear, O my son and receive my sayings and the years of your life
shall be many.
Proverbs
4:11 I have taught you in the way of wisdom. I have led you in right
paths.
Proverbs
4:12 When you go, your steps shall not be straitened.(original
is 'distressed',
'vexed', that
is you won't be shoved off your path by others urging you to do wrong things).and
when you run.(when
you are under pressure to do things quicker).you
won't stumble.
Proverbs
4:13 Take fast hold of instruction. Let her not go. Keep her, for she
is your life.
Proverbs
4:14-17 Enter not into the path of the wicked and go not in the way
of evil men. Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it and pass away. For
evil ones sleep not, except they have done mischief. Their sleep is taken
away unless they cause some to fall.(Proverbs
4:19;they are so corrupt that their whole purpose is such to cause
another trouble and they don't rest until someone is harmed in some way).
For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence.
Proverbs
4:18 But the path of the just
is as the shining light, that shines more and more unto the perfect day.
Proverbs
4:19 The way of the wicked is as darkness. They know not at what they
stumble.(Isaiah
30:10; Jeremiah 16:10-12).
They
just have no idea what could be wrong in their lives and that is, they
are out of sync
with the
set operating system of the universe God set to be before humanity
was even on the Earth:.2Timothy
1:9. Humans as they are, just don't seem to get it that negatives in
life are to get them to think about what they are thinking, saying and
doing, so they can change to that which works well for them and others.
Proverbs
4:20-22 My son, attend to my words.(why
you are here in the first place). Incline your ear unto my
sayings. Let them not depart from your eyes. Keep them in the midst of
your
heart. For.they are life.unto
those that find them and health to all their flesh.
God's
words are the scriptures
for us.
Proverbs
4:23 Keep your heart with all diligence
for out of it are the issues of life.
In
the original
Hebrew it means 'to guard your mind' because you
make your life by thoughts and resultant.attitudes
and words that come from those attitudes, words that either sever
or enhance.your
soul:.Matthew
12:36; 1John 4:1.
Proverbs
4:24 Put away from yourself a froward
mouth and perverse.(lips
not of love).lips, put far from
you.
Always
be kind, helpful and respectful toward all others, even the
evil ones. You may hate what they've done, but try as best you can
to see their soul, which probably by now is badly seared (1Timothy
4:2), but as like a badly burnt bar-b-qued steak, may not yet be charred
all the way through.
As gene
Decode has said, if we are always kind, helpful respectful and forgiving,
we would so affect the collective consciousness, that in 24 hours the world
would change and stay that way.
Proverbs
4:25,26 Let your eyes look right on and let your eyelids look straight
before you.(find
what's
good for you and others
and stick to it and you won't get stuck
in the dark side; how
to find it).
Ponder
the path of your feet and let all your ways be established.
Or,
closer to the original."Pondering
the path of your feet.(where
you are going in life and want to go).establishes
your way.".and
in this, get some counsel
along the way:.Proverbs
11:14.
Avoid rushing
to get into things. If you keep getting information until you're sure of
all options,
you'll avoid many pitfalls in life:.Proverbs
5:1-14.
Matthew
7:14.
Proverbs
4:27 Turn not to the right hand nor to the left. Remove your foot from
evil.
