1Corinthians 8:1 Now as touching things offered unto idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but charity edifies.

1Corinthians 8:3 But if any man love God the same is known of him.

1Corinthians 8:4 As concerning therefore the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice unto idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world and that there is none other God but one.

1Corinthians 8:5 For though there be those things that are called gods, whether in heaven or in Earth, as there be gods many and lords many,

1Corinthians 8:6 But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things and we in him and Emmanuel the Christ.(also called the Word:.1John 1:1-3).by whom.are all things and we by him.(*).
Emmanuel (Jesus) came to reveal that He had a Father and was connected to the Father and that can be our pathway as well.
1Corinthians 8:7 Howbeit there is not in every man that knowledge. For some with conscience of the idol unto this hour eat it as a thing offered unto an idol and their conscience being weak is defiled.(Titus 1:15).

1Corinthians 8:8-10 But meat.(any kind of food).commends us not to God, for neither if we eat are we the better.(doesn't bother us if the food was used first in some worship to an idol or not; verse 4 above); neither if we eat not are we the worse. But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumbling block to them that are weak. For if any man see you which has knowledge.(the knowledge that an idol is not real, has no power).sit at meat in the idol's temple, shall not the conscience of him which is weak be emboldened to eat those things which are offered to idols.(that is, he or she may still believe idols are indeed real and this may cause a cognitive dissonance in him or her);

1Corinthians 8:11 And through your knowledge.(that is, improper use of knowledge that, in itself, is correct, but acting with no wisdom toward another may make it wrong to him, thus harming his conscience or where his belief structure is at this time; learn love because love removes limitations).shall the weak brother perish.(takes a step back while thinking it's a step forward), for whom Christ died?
Comprised from.Adam Clarke's Commentary:.this individual being first taught by your conduct that there was no harm in thus eating what he believes is some sort of a worshiping to a real idol, that is an idol that has power to affect his life, he thereby.grieves the Spirit of God:.Ephesians 4:30 "And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby your redemption is sealed unto this day."
1Corinthians 8:12 But when you sin so against the brethren and wound their weak conscience, you sin against Christ.(Matthew Poole's Commentary: which is being against love by acting contrary to the judgment of his own conscience;.Robertson Word Pictures:."a poor use to put one's superior knowledge, as danger follows in the wake of daredevil knowledge").

1Corinthians 8:13 Wherefore, if meat make my brother.(not his actual brother but speaking generally here of being in the same family, that of Christ).to offend.(verses 7-10), I will eat no flesh while the world stands, lest I make my brother to offend..(love is more important than teaching truths to someone they may not be ready for, as it can throw him off his particular path of faith:.Romans 14:19-23; some newbies walk slowly and carefully at first as a baby first learning to walk)
