Ephesians 4:1 I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that you walk worthy of the vocation.(work, occupation, job).wherewith you are called,
Your calling, verse 4.
Ephesians 4:2 With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love.
Ephesians 4:2 With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering.(patience), forbearing.(original 'holding up' {encouraging}, 'sustaining', 'bearing with', 'enduring'; the word in today's age means 'to hold back', that is, to hold back yourself from negativity, such as from lashing out at another).one another in love.
Ephesians 4:3.Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit.(oneness).in the bond of peace.

Ephesians 4:4 There is one body and one Spirit even as you are called in one hope of your calling.
It's God that opens the door for you to Him:.Revelation 3:20; Matthew 7:7.

1Corinthians 1:26; 2Peter 1:10.

Entering into the high consciousness things which enables you to function at a new level of experience.

Some misguided souls may tell you the hope of your calling is joining their church.

Ephesians 4:5 One God, one faith, one baptism,

Ephesians 4:6 One God and Father of all, who is above.(original also has 'on' and 'in'; Greek work is 'epi' from which we get 'epigenetics').all and through all and in you all.
The Creator is beyond all physicalness, yet His holy nature comprises it all.
Ephesians 4:7 But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.
Ephesians 4:7 But unto every one of us is given grace according.(in original, the word 'according' is 'toward' meaning leading toward; God's grace leads us into greater spirituality, according to our belief in it:.Matthew 9:29).to the measure.(the measure).of the gift of Christ:.Ephesians 5:2.

The measure of the gift of Christ. It was not a 'sacrifice' but a gift. The 'measure' is the meaning each one of us has of it, that is, the importance of His death to each of us:.Hebrews 9:26. As one grows in spirituality, the gift of this takes on greater importance to each of us:.Romans 4:21.

Use the gifts you have and you get more. Are you getting good at helping and serving others, at seeing and sensing what their needs are that you may be able to provide? Are you good at helping to make life easier for others. We've all had a rough go in this physical life:.Proverbs 14:13. Can you speak? Are you an effective personality? Can you be an effective writer? Use what wisdom you have and ask for more:.James 1:5.

Comprised with.Barnes Notes:.note that it is one of the gifts (next verse, 8) bestowed on us and not what originated by ourselves, that is, it didn't come from the ordinary natures we came here with; note also the verse says 'every one of us has the gift of Christ', although some capitalize more than others on it:.1Corinthians 12:31; Philippians 1:19; Ephesians 4:13.

Ephesians 4:8 Wherefore he says, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive.(?).and gave gifts unto men.(what gifts?).
From Psalms 68:18.
Ephesians 4:9 Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower part of the.('of the' not in original).Earth?
Closer to the original and so, we could read it."Now he that ascended.(His ascension), what is it.(since he went up {what we call heaven}, it's no big deal that he could also go down).but that he also descended.(John 6:38).into the lower part Earth."

They talked differently back then, but this is a comment by Paul (who's Paul?) on that Christ (the expression of God's will, also known as the 'Word') being so great yet He humbled himself and became a man (Philippians 2:8) here on Earth; it's saying that He who ascended (to the Father) had first descended (from the Father); word "parts" is "part" in the original; words "the" not in original.

Paul is saying that He who was resurrected and was seen rising into the sky to go back to the Father, was He that came from there to the lower parts, the Earth. Paul may have also had this in mind:.1Peter 3:19.

Ephesians 4:10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.

Ephesians 4:11 And he gave.(to give something to someone you must have it and want to give it).some, apostles and some, prophets and some evangelists and some pastors and teachers.
In other words 'God gave the ability to be what some had become':.John 1:16.
Ephesians 4:12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.

Ephesians 4:13 Till we all come in the unity of the.(word 'the' not in original).faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ.

Ephesians 4:14 That we henceforth be no more children tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine by the sleight of men and cunning craftiness whereby they lie in wait to deceive.
Such are they.(who are they?).who are so warped in their thinklng look for every opportunity to take advantage of you and such is the way of a low consciousness developed since birth.
Ephesians 4:15 But speaking.(to speak it, you have got to know it) and to whom should it be spoken to? and when should it be spoken?.1Peter 3:15).the truth in love, may grow.(1Peter 2:2: 2Peter 3:18).into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ.
We are here to grow spiritually and it takes Christ to get us there:.Ephesians 2:10; John 15:5.
Ephesians 4:16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted.(knit together).by that which every joint.(every individual growing into higher consciousness of the knowledge of God).supplies.(*), according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, makes increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.(that is, the entire body of Christ is further strenghtened).
So how can you do this?
Ephesians 4:17 This I say being in the true God, that you henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind.
No other purpose for life but a selfish, 'me great' one.(Psalms 36:2; Proverbs 12:15).that seems to be the right way to follow:.Proverbs 21:2.
Ephesians 4:18 Having their minds, their innerstanding.darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart.
Ephesians 4:18 Having their minds, their innerstanding.(original Greek for original word 'understanding' as the original had it here and changed to 'innerstanding' because it's more correct, means 'the channel of an act', 'to exercise deep thought' {deep thought such as}, 'through the mind', an innerstanding).darkened.(a darkened understanding), being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance.(original Greek for 'ignorance' is 'not knowing'; why did they not know).that is in them.(and what was this?), because of the blindness.(original Greek is 'callousness').of their heart.

Greed clouds an individual's ability to have an innerstanding mind:.Isaiah 56:11,12; Galatians 5:17.

Ephesians 4:19 Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.
Ephesians 4:19 Who being past feeling.(original 'feeling justified to be separated from those in need'; they don't have any feelings of compassion for others; they just don't care:.1Timothy 4:2).have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness..(desiring more money to increase their expressions of evil; who are these types?)
Ephesians 4:20 But you have not so learned Christ;
Christ is something you learn.
Ephesians 4:21 If so be that you have heard him and have been taught by him, as.the truth is in Emmanuel the Christ.
And if you are one with Emmanuel the Christ, then you're in truth and will easily see where the lies of the dark side ones are. What truth is the verse speaking about? See next verse, verse 22.

Ephesians 2:20; Acts 4:12.

Ephesians 4:22 That you put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts.
Ephesians 4:22 That you.(considering verses directly above, then the word 'have' should make this verse clearer).put off.(2Corinthians 4:2).concerning the former conversation.(old English word for 'conduct').the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts.(a deceitful.lust is one which unknowingly leads you into trouble {Proverbs 14:12} and is able to lead you because you want what it's leading you too; like you're not aware that a road you're on has no warning and ends with a drop off a cliff).

Decide to have Christ in your life and the corruptness disappears as quickly as the vail keeping the truth from you is lifted:.2Corinthians 3:16. What lifts it?

And you have put off the old man by your acceptance of what Christ came in the body of Emmanuel to do for those He has called (1Corinthians 1:26-31) to the high spiritual quality of love. And what does this acceptance get you?.2Corinthians 3:16.

Ephesians 4:23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind..(how?)

Ephesians 4:24 And that you put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
Ephesians 4:24 And that you put on the new man, which after.(original for 'which after' is 'according to' {Colossians 3:10} or 'now we are', in God's eyes, equal to Him.resembling Him in knowledge, outlook toward others involving love and concern).God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

Galatians 2:20.

Ephesians 4:25 Wherefore putting away lying.(people lie to gain advantage), speak every man truth with his neighbour. For we are members one of another.

Ephesians 4:26 Be you angry and sin not. Let not the sun go down upon your wrath.
Ephesians 4:26 Be you angry.(original implies 'emotional'; that is, if you didn't have strong passionate emotion over things, nothing would get done as best it could be done:.Mark 3:5. But, if you are angry at something, keep it confined to one point and don't drag other issues into it making it a burdensome harangue. Ok to get angry, just keep calm enough not to allow it to lead into action to take revenge. Why?.Romans 12:19. God knows how to control His anger:.Isaiah 57:16).and sin not.(when anger is sinful is when something is done to make matters worse, for you and for the other. Better had things just been left as they were, rather then causing hurts to others and oneself just to learn a lesson). Let not the sun go down upon your wrath.

Perhaps a better version of the verse would be 'If you tend to anger, don't allow it to control you, by getting rid of it once you notice your emotion'.

Ephesians 4:27 Neither give place to the devil.
2Corinthians 4:4; 1Timothy 5:14; James 4:7.
Ephesians 4:28 Let him that stole steal no more. But rather let him labor, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have something to give to him that needs.
Luke 12:33.
Ephesians 4:29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.
Ephesians 4:29 Let no corrupt communication.(original means any conversation which is not of the highest standards; just as you wouldn't want rotten fruit or vegetables, similarly is corrupt conversation; corrupt conversation can be that which corrupts another's mindset at the time, such as, a religious.jerk attempting to jerk one away from his normal way of being in life and into something of which at the time may be somewhat shocking to him:.Proverbs 15:1,2; 2Timothy 2:14).proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

To build others up, you have to know their foundation.

Ephesians 4:30.(as closer to the original meaning). And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby your redemption is sealed unto this day.
Ephesians 4:30 And grieve.(original for word 'grieve' is 'to affect negatively', that is, don't be out of sync with the high standard of God, which encompasses.love in all you do, as those who came out of bondage in Egypt were like:.Isaiah 63:10; avoid letting negative thoughts get you down and robbing you of joy, making you feel mopey).not the holy Spirit of God, whereby your redemption is sealed unto this day.

It's like carrying your treasure box of precious items. You have gold, silver, diamonds, rubies and other items in it that are valuable to you. You won't lay it down or even let it out of your hands until it's in a very safe place. You wouldn't grieve the purpose you have for your valuables by risking leaving your box out in the wind, rain or in the dust or leaving it where someone else may take it.

Ephesians 4:31 Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, evil speaking and malice, be put away from you.

Ephesians 4:32 And be you kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ has forgiven you.
Colossians 3:13.
