About Philippians

Philippians 1:1 Paul and Timotheus, the servants of Emmanuel the Christ, to all the saints in Christ Emmanuel which are at Philippi, with the bishops and deacons.

Philippians 1:2 Grace be unto you and peace, from God our Father and from the Lord Emmanuel the Christ.

Philippians 1:3 I thank my God upon every remembrance of you.

Philippians 1:4,5 Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy, For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now;

Philippians 1:6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which has begun a good work in you will perform it.(*).until the day of Emmanuel the Christ.

Philippians 1:7 Even as it is meet for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart; inasmuch as both in my bonds and in the defence and confirmation of the gospel, you all are partakers of my grace.

Philippians 1:8 For God is my record, how greatly I long after you all in the bowels of Emmanuel the Christ.

Philippians 1:9 And this I pray that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment.
Love abounds in knowledge (keep learning) and judgment and from love comes guidance from the invisible. The word 'judgment' is 'perception, insight, discernment' in the original. When you have much love abounding (active love as opposed to passively liking) in you, you will have increased discernment. Those things which people do to you which would normally bother you, don't bother you quite the same, as you can see deep and now overstand that is the way others may be for many reasons beyond them, due to.programming in early years having made them what they now are.
Philippians 1:10 That you may approve things that are excellent; that you may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ.(what is the day of Christ?.2Peter 1:19).

Philippians 1:11 Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by.(or 'through':.verse 19, below).Emmanuel the Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.

Philippians 1:12 But I would you should understand, brethren, that the things which happened unto me have fallen out rather unto the furtherance of the gospel;

Philippians 1:13 So that my bonds in Christ are manifest in all the palace and in all other places;

Philippians 1:14-16 And many of the brethren in the Lord, waxing confident by my bonds, are much more bold to speak the word without fear. Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife and some also of good will. The one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds.

Philippians 1:17 But the other of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel.
Original is less of 'defence' and more of 'answering', that is, Paul was always ready to answer questions on the message he was giving to others.
Philippians 1:18 What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence or in truth Christ is preached, I therein do rejoice, yea and will rejoice.
Barnes New Testament Notes:."Their pretence was that they preached the gospel because they believed it true and loved it; their real object was to build up a party and to diminish the influence and authority of Paul"; see verses just above here, verses 14-17.
Philippians 1:19 For I know that this shall turn to my salvation through your prayer and the supply of the Spirit of Emmanuel.Christ.
The Spirit, the spiritual energy of the Creator is a supply, meaning both, amount available for our use according to our beliefs.{get rid of negative beliefs. How?.Matthew 21:32}.and amount of it sustaining us.
Philippians 1:20 According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life or by death.
Barnes New Testament Notes: Paul wished to live only that he might be useful to others.
Philippians 1:21 For to me to live is Christ and to die is gain..(?)

Philippians 1:22 But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labour. Yet what I shall choose I wot not.(I don't know:.2Corinthians 5:6).

Philippians 1:23 For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart and to be with Christ, which is far better..(?)

Philippians 1:24 Nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you.
Paul is saying 'I'm here for you'. We too should be supporting with prayers those on the front lines, the soldiers in today's battles, as Moses needed help with the soldiers way back when:.Exodus 17:11.
Philippians 1:25 And having this confidence, I know that I shall abide and continue with you all for your furtherance and joy of faith.
Paul was an example of a true loving individual, as he was all out for the good of others, that is after his conversion.
Philippians 1:26 That your rejoicing may be more abundant in Emmanuel the Christ for me by my coming to you again.
He is saying in this letter to those in the Greek city of Philippi that he would come and visit them again.
Philippians 1:27 Only let your conversation.(old English word for 'conduct').be as it becomes the gospel.(means 'good news').of Christ, that whether I come and see you or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that you stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel.
Original means 'working together on sharing the message', the good news about the faith (what you have come to believe) with others who have also been chosen since the foundation of the world but have yet to hear all the good news of Christ:.Ephesians 1:6; of course, the working on this would refer to becoming wise enough to realize that some others would be closed minded, such as those called the 'frozen chosen' and yet others who may still be of such low ordinary consciousness that they just can't be reached at this time.
Philippians 1:28 And in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of perdition.(they may figure that you're crazy not being afraid to die, that you want to die because you feel that you deserve to die; they can't figure you out, why? 1Corinthians 2:11-16; Philippians 3:20; 2Peter 3:13,14), but to you of salvation and that of God.

Philippians 1:29 For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake..(?)
From the original:.'For you forgiven of Christ, not only to believe in Him, but even to live as he lived.'.And He lived a life of love.
