Matthew 27:1,2 When the morning was come, all the chief priests and elders of the people took counsel against Emmanuel to put him to death. And when they had bound him, they led him away and delivered him to Pontius Pilate the governor.

Matthew 27:3 Then Judas, which had betrayed him.(the betrayal:.John 13:18,21-27), when he saw that he.(Emmanuel).was condemned, repented himself and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders,
These corrupt individuals hid behind the scenes and paid others for their dirty work to be done. Judas succumbed to his greed.
Matthew 27:4 Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see you to that.(that's your problem).

Matthew 27:5 And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple and departed and went and hanged himself.(?).

Matthew 27:6,7 And the chief priests took the silver pieces and said, It is not lawful for to put them into the treasury, because it is the price of blood. And they took counsel and bought with them the potter's field, to bury strangers in.

Matthew 27:8 Wherefore that field was called, The field of blood, unto this day.

Matthew 27:9 Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy.(Jeremiah).the prophet.(spoken by Jeremiah and recorded by Zechariah in Zechariah 11:12,13; Barnes Notes on it), saying 'And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him that was valued, whom they of the children of Israel did value.

Matthew 27:10 And gave them for the potter's field, as the Lord appointed me.
Comprised with.Barnes New Testament Notes:.to show their great contempt of and rejection of him and his office and of God who had sent him, they gave him (gave Judas) thirty pieces of silver, the price of a slave. This was thrown down in the temple, taken by the priests and appropriated to the purchase of a field owned by a potter, worn out and of little or no value; all showing at how low a price, through the whole transaction, the Son of God was estimated. From the beginning of time man just didn't want God around:.Jeremiah 44:16,17.
Matthew 27:11 And Emmanuel stood before the governor and the governor asked him, saying, Are you the King of the Jews? And Emmanuel said unto him, You say.

Matthew 27:12 And when he was accused of the chief priests and elders, he answered nothing.

Matthew 27:13 Then said Pilate.(the chief Roman ruler of the district of his jurisdiction).unto him, Hear you not how many things they witness against you?

Matthew 27:14 And he answered him never a word, insomuch that the governor marvelled greatly.

Matthew 27:15-17 Now at that feast the governor was wont to release unto the people a prisoner, whom they would. And they had then a notable prisoner, called Barabbas. Therefore when they were gathered together, Pilate said unto them, Whom will you that I release unto you? Barabbas or Emmanuel which is called Christ?

Matthew 27:18 For he knew that for envy.(original for word 'envy' is 'depravity', 'corruptness' or for nefarious purposes).they had delivered him.

Matthew 27:19 When he was set down on the judgment seat his wife sent unto him.(sent a message), saying, Have nothing to do with that just man.(speaking here of Emmanuel, verse 15-17, above), for I have suffered many things this day in a dream because of him.

Matthew 27:20 But the chief priests and elders persuaded the multitude that they should ask Barabbas.(ask for Barabbas to be released).and destroy Emmanuel.

Matthew 27:21 The governor answered and said unto them, Whether of the twain will you that I release unto you? They said, Barabbas.

Matthew 27:22-23 Pilate said unto them, What shall I do then with Emmanuel which is called Christ? They all say unto him, Let him be crucified.(the brainwashed masses influenced by the corrupt religionists of the day followed their lead). And the governor said, Why, what evil has he done? But they cried out the more, saying, Let him be crucified.(shows how badly the brainwashing was).
A throng of low consciousness demon inspired people having no emotional intelligence, who want the violence of hurting another.
Matthew 27:24 When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person; see you to it.(his death is on your hands).

Matthew 27:25 Then answered all the people and said, His blood be on us and on our children.
The populace back then were completely duped.
Matthew 27:26 Then released he Barabbas.(one of two criminals who were also to be crucified that day, along with Emmanuel ).unto them. And when he had scourged Emmanuel, he delivered him to be crucified.

Matthew 27:27-29 Then the soldiers of the governor took Emmanuel into the common hall and gathered unto him the whole band of soldiers. And they stripped him and put on him a scarlet robe. And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head and a reed in his right hand. And they bowed the knee before him and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews!

Matthew 27:30 And they spit upon him and took the reed and smote him on the head.

Matthew 27:31 And after that they had mocked him, they took the robe off from him and put his own raiment on him and led him away to crucify him.

Matthew 27:32 And as they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name and him they compelled to bear his cross.

Matthew 27:33 And when they were come unto a place called Golgotha, that is to say, a place of a skull,

Matthew 27:34 They gave him vinegar to drink mingled with gall. And when he had tasted thereof, he would not drink.

Matthew 27:35 And they crucified him and parted his garments, casting lots.(the garments were of high quality so they decided to cut them into pieces and used a means of selecting so each would have a choice); that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them and upon my vesture did they cast lots.
Also John 19:24; the fulfillment of a prediction made 1000 years before:.Psalms 22:18.
Matthew 27:36 And sitting down they watched him there.

Matthew 27:37 And set up over his head his accusation written, THIS IS EMMANUEL THE KING OF THE JEWS.

Matthew 27:38 Then were there two thieves crucified with him.(Luke 23:39), one on the right hand and another on the left.

Matthew 27:39 And they that passed by reviled him, wagging their heads,

Matthew 27:40 And saying, You that said destroy the temple and build it in three days, save yourself. If you be the Son of God, come down from the cross.

Matthew 27:41,42 Likewise also the chief priests mocking him, with the scribes and elders, said, He saved others. Himself he cannot save. If he be the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross and we will believe him.
Too bad they didn't know anything meaningful about faith or the scriptures, as being the religious leaders of the people, they really cared not for any truth or they would have known that it's the other way around. This too is a fulfilled prophecy, this one from.Isaiah 53:3-7. Like today the populace is subject to many con jobs.

The religious leaders of the day were the Pharisees, lawyers, scribes, Sadducees, etc. They didn't really know the scriptures.purported to the people that they had correct knowledge of. Many important Old Testament scriptures they should have been talking about to the people (such as Haggai 2:9 ,just for one example), they never did, at least not openly, thus hiding them. Corrupt religion today does the same.

Matthew 27:43 He trusted in God. Let him deliver him now, if he will have him. For he said, I am the Son of God.

Matthew 27:44 The thieves also, which were crucified with him, cast the same in his teeth.
That is, they too castigated him.
Matthew 27:45 Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour.

Matthew 27:46 And about the ninth hour Emmanuel cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?.
From the prophecy in Psalms 22:1.
Matthew 27:47 Some of them that stood there, when they heard that and said, This man calls for Elias.

Matthew 27:48 And straightway one of them ran and took a spunge and filled it with vinegar and put it on a reed and gave him to drink.

Matthew 27:49 The rest said, Let be, let us see whether Elias will come to save him.

Matthew 27:50 Emmanuel, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.

Matthew 27:51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent.(split).in twain.(two).from the top to the bottom and the Earth did quake and the rocks rent;

Matthew 27:52,53 And the graves were opened and many bodies of the saints which slept arose and came out of the graves after his resurrection.(immediately Emmanuel rose, that is, His spirit:.Luke 23:46; his body didn't resurrect until after three days in the sepulchre; but the vail was torn in half now, symbolizing the way to the Creator-Father was fully open to what was now the Christ and for those who would come to be in Christ, what's that mean?).and went into the holy city and appeared unto many.
The graveyard was just outside the city of Jerusalem, often called the holy city.
Matthew 27:54 Now when the centurion and they that were with him watching Emmanuel saw the Earthquake and those things that were done, they feared greatly saying, Truly this was the Son of God.

Matthew 27:55 And many women were there beholding afar off, which followed Emmanuel from Galilee, ministering unto him.

Matthew 27:56 Among which was Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of James and Joses. And Salome, the mother of Zebedee's children.(two of whom were James the greater and John).also was with them.

Matthew 27:57-60 When the even was come, there came a rich man of Arimathaea, named Joseph, who also himself was Emmanuel's disciple. He went to Pilate and begged.(original 'asked for'; like, why would they translate the original word to be 'beg'?).the body of Emmanuel. Then Pilate commanded the body to be delivered. And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth and laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock. And he rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulchre and departed.

Matthew 27:61,62 And there was Mary Magdalene and the other Mary, sitting over against the sepulchre. Now the next day that followed the day of the preparation, the chief priests and Pharisees came together unto Pilate,
Comprised with.Adam Clarke's Commentary: This next day following the day of preparation was the seventh day or Saturday. What we term to be the evening of the sixth or Friday, the Jews counted as one day as they commonly always had. The Jews always ended their day when the Sun set and then began the next right then in the evening of what we today call the evening of the same day; the days therefor began and ended at sunset:.Mark 15:42 "And now when the even was come, because it was the preparation, that is, the day before the sabbath.".Luke 23:54; John 19:31.
Matthew 27:63,64 Saying, Sir, we remember that that deceiver.(these were the lowest of the low consciousness people ever on Earth, in that, they knew they were lying, they knew He was of the Creator and here for a special purpose, yet they, because of their own greed and corruptness, denied the truth and even called the Son of God a deceiver).said, while he was yet alive, After three days I will rise again. Command therefore that the sepulchre be made sure until the third day, lest his disciples come by night and steal him away and say unto the people, He is risen from the dead, so the last error shall be worse than the first.

Matthew 27:65,66 Pilate said unto them, You have a watch. Go your way, make it as sure as you can. So they went and made the sepulchre sure, sealing the stone and setting a watch.
