John 12:1 Then Emmanuel six days before the passover came to Bethany, where Lazarus was which had been dead, whom he raised from the dead.

John 12:2 There they made him a supper and Martha served and Lazarus was one of them that sat at the table with him.

John 12:3 Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly and anointed the feet of Emmanuel and wiped his feet with her hair and the house was filled with the odor of the ointment.
This was a different woman than the one in.Luke 7:36-50.
John 12:4 Then said one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, which should betray him,

John 12:5 Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence and given to the poor?

John 12:6 This he said, not that he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief and had the bag and bare what was put therein.
John 12:6 This he said, not that he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief and had the bag.(those who supported Emmanuel's work back then who were able to contribute money, gave it to the treasurer of the disciples, who was Judas, who carried it in a pouch, a purse).and bare what was put therein.
John 12:7 Then said Emmanuel, Let her alone. Against the day of my burying has she kept this.
She believed what was coming for Emmanuel.
John 12:8 For the poor.(original 'the fallen down but trying to improve their life situation').always you have with you, but me you have not always..(also Mark 14:7)
Emmanuel is saying that He's there now, so learn of Him. The poor are always there and do need help from you. He's saying learn from me how to help them. One way is to turn their minds to God, if they are willing. Why just 'if they are willing'? And what is a most effective way you can do it without even knowing whom they may be:.Isaiah 58:6.

Scriptures on being concerned for the poor:.Leviticus 25:35; Deuteronomy 15:7-11; 24:14; Psalms 9:18; 10:2,3,7-10; 37:14; 40:17; 41:1; 72:4; 82:3,4; 97:10; 109:8-18; 109:22,23,31; 113:7; 140:12; Proverbs 13:7; 14:20,31; 17:5; 19:1,4,7,22; 21:13; 22:9,16; 22:22,23; 29:14; 30:14; 31:9,20; Ecclesiastes 5:8; 9:13-16; Isaiah 1:17; 3:12-15; 10:1,2; 24:4; 41:17; 58:7; Jeremiah 15:21; 22:16; Ezekiel 16:49; 22:28-31; Amos 2:6; 5:12; 8:4; Galatians 2:10.

Proverbs 28:15 "A roaring lion and ranging bear is a wicked ruler over poor people." Proverbs 3:27 "Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of your hand to do it."

John 12:9 Much people of those of the tribe of Judah therefore knew that he was there and they came not for Emmanuel's sake only, but that they might see Lazarus also, whom he had raised from the dead.

John 12:10,11 But the chief priests consulted that they might put Lazarus also.(that is, in addition to Emmanuel).to death.(low consciousness is often mostly evident in satanic leaders, their thinking being, let's not support the good and what could help others, let's only support our own greedy, selfish and controlling purposes; what did Emmanuel think of them?.Matthew 23:2-33); Because that by reason of him many of the Judeans went away and believed on Emmanuel.
They could see their contol waning and their greedy pockets not being as full.
John 12:12-18 On the next day much people that were come to the feast, when they heard that Emmanuel was coming to Jerusalem, Took branches of palm trees and went forth to meet him and cried, Hosanna, Blessed is the King of Israel that comes in the name of the Lord. And Emmanuel, when he had found a young ass, sat thereon. As it is written, Fear not, daughter of Sion, behold, your King comes, sitting on an ass's colt.(Matthew 21:5-7). These things understood not his disciples at the first, but when Emmanuel was glorified.(resurrected), then remembered they that these things were written of him and that they had done these things unto him. The people therefore that was with him when he called Lazarus out of his grave and raised him from the dead bare record. For this cause the people also met him, for that they heard that he had done this miracle.

John 12:19 The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, Perceive you how you prevail nothing? Behold, the world is gone after him.
John 12:19 The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, Perceive you how you prevail nothing?.(the crowds don't listen to you any longer).Behold.(behold is to take note; look at), the world is gone after him.

These were the leaders who thought of Emmanuel as a competitor. Both they and the people believed that He was to be the new King over the physical nation of Israel back then. They were all wrong:.John 8:23; 18:36.

And was it actually the 'whole world' who went 'after him' back then? No! Understand what the words 'whole' and 'all' mean.

John 12:20 And there were certain Greeks among them that came up to worship at the feast.

John 12:21,22 The same came therefore to Philip, which was of Bethsaida of Galilee and desired him, saying, Sir, we would see Emmanuel. Philip came and told Andrew and again Andrew and Philip told Emmanuel.

John 12:23,24 And Emmanuel answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abides alone, but if it die, it brings forth much fruit.

John 12:25 He that loves his life.(selfish ego built life).shall lose it and he that hates.(loves much less by comparison).his life in this world.(his selfish ego built world).shall keep it unto life eternal.

John 12:26 If any man serve.(original for word 'serve' is 'want to be a part of what I am' and 'attend to' and what's that all mean?).me, let him follow me.(you follow someone to learn from them in being a part of what they may be doing; that's what a discipleis, a follower:.Philippians 2:5).and where I am, there shall also my servant be. If any man serve.(or 'minister' unto me; who's me? how do you look after Christ in you?).me.(Matthew 25:40), him will my Father honor.

John 12:27 Now is my soul troubled and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour, but for this cause came I unto this hour.

John 12:28-30 Father, glorify your name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it and will glorify it again. The people therefore, that stood by and heard it said that it thundered. Others said, An angel spake to him. Emmanuel answered and said, This voice came not because of me, but for your sakes.

John 12:31.Now is the judgment.(original 'separation').of this world. Now shall the prince of this world.(John 8:23).be cast out.
Doesn't say 'then', says 'now'.
John 12:32 And I.(who's this I?), if I be lifted up from the Earth, will draw all men unto me.

John 12:33 This he said, signifying what death he should die.

John 12:34 The people answered him, We have heard out of the law.(referring to Psalms 110:4; ancient Judeans called every part of the sacred writings by the name, The Law {2Chronicles 25:4}, in opposition to the words or sayings of the scribes).that Christ abides for ever and how say you, The Son of man must be lifted up? who is this Son of man?

John 12:35 Then Emmanuel said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while you have the light, lest darkness come upon you, for he that walks in darkness knows not where he's going.
Feed the light, not the darkness. Feed the hopefulness, not the dreariness. There are two major choices facing all of us.
John 12:36 While you have light, believe in the light, that you may be the children of light. These things spake Emmanuel and departed and did hide himself from them.
It was the same in Old Testament times, they didn't want God around, so God hid from them.
John 12:37 But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him.
They did not want to believe and therefor their minds were closed to seeing the works of God.
John 12:38 that the saying of Esaias.(Isaiah).the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake; Lord, who hath believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?

John 12:39 Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias.(Isaiah).said again,

John 12:40 He has blinded their eyes.and hardened their heart.(Exodus 14:4), that they should not see with their eyes, nor comprehend with their heart and be converted and I should heal them.
And such as it was then, but remember, the Bible.evinces a spiritualness that is a progression in truth.
John 12:42 Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him, but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue.

John 12:43 For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.

John 12:44 Emmanuel cried and said, He that believes on me, believes not on me, but on him that sent me.
John 12:44.Emmanuel cried.(original 'to say out loud').and said, He that believes on.(original 'into', 'unto', 'to', 'towards', 'for', 'among'; believes 'into' Him would be this).me, believes not on me, but on him that sent me; why?).
John 12:45 And he that sees me sees him that sent me.
.2Corinthians 5:19.
John 12:46 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believes on.(verse 44 just above).me should not abide in darkness.
1John 2:11; John 14:9 "...he that has seen me has seen the Father..."
John 12:47 And if any man hear my words and believe not, I judge him not. For I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
John 12:47 And if any man hear my words and believe not, I judge him not. For I came not to judge the world.(came not to get after them for the ways they live by which are hurting them; well, who then judges? and why did He come?), but to save.(?).the world.

John 3:17 "For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through him might be saved."

John 12:48 He that rejects me and receives not my words, has one that judges him. The word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.
John 12:48 He that rejects me and receives not my words.(Psalms 50:16,17), has one that judges him. The word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

It's not God that judges. Well, who does judge the wrongs then? And what about the right things, what happens then? It's the laws Father-Creator has set up that provide an.automatic result in life. God the knower, knows what he is doing, as we also know what we are doing. God has set things up a certain way for our learning. A living man, woman or child's own words (thoughts and resultant actions) determine the kind of life he will have, because the universe is already set up with these laws. And so, we are judged by them daily and it's written down. Where? And, what laws, what words? The good words illuminate the pathway of eternal life and provide for the automatic law of reap what has been sown. Emmanuel came to reveal the way of the soul, the way of the Father. He was perfect but came to atone for what humanity has sow

We are all judged by our works of good or evil (Revelation 20:12,13), the works of the spirit in us or the works of us following the ordinary consciousness way of living, better known as the ego, which is easily tricked into evil by the invisible beings of the dark side.

John 12:49 For I have not spoken of myself, but the Father which sent me he gave me a commandment what I should say and how I should say it.
Robertson's Word Pictures: statement in this verse refers to content and delivery.
John 12:50 And I know that his commandment.(means 'instruction', 'guidance', the right pathway for a good life).is life everlasting.(the Creator wants you to live forever). Whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me.(how?), so I speak.
