1Corinthians
11:1 Be you followers of me.(it
was Paul here speaking: 1Corinthians
1:1,2), even as I also am of Christ.
To
be sure you are following one who actually is following Christ, watch closely
how they are and notice how you feel about them:.Matthew
7:16-20.
What does following
Christ entail?.John
21:14-18.
1Corinthians
11:2 Now I praise you, brethren, that you remember me in all things
and keep the ordinances.(original
for word 'ordinance' is 'traditions' the ones he talked of in the previous
chapters and see verse 4 notes below), as I delivered them
to you.
1Corinthians
11:3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ
and the head of the woman is the man and the head of Christ is God.
The
woman's mind to be that of Christ, who was subordinate
to Father-God, so that there is unity of heart.
1Corinthians
11:4 Every man praying or prophesying,
having his head covered, dishonours his head.
Comprised
with.Clarke's
Commentary: Having his head covered with his cap or turban on dishonours
his head, because the head being covered was a sign of subjection.
Paul came to see that since a man in
Christ was equal to
God, wearing a covering on the head in church was showing not
the fact of his being now equal, but rather still in a state of subjection
to various rules religion, such as that of the Pharisees doctrine.(*),
which was based on their tradition and not on God's loving principles.
Such things
of organized religion
were set up as being necessary (Mark
7:3,4) and that his one being veiled or covered would therefor
be improper. This decision of the apostle was in point blank hostility
to the canon of
the pharisaical
ones calling themselves Jews,
for they would not allow a man to pray unless he was veiled (just as ridiculous
as today, where they won't allow you unless masked {part of the covid
con}), for which the Pharisees
gave this reason 'He should veil himself to show that he is ashamed before
God and unworthy with open face to behold him'. But that was never the
case with God. Their reasoning in attempting to control others was all
just a lot of religious
crap (be alert today for politicians and others having similar Nazi thought
processes):.James
2:23 "And the scripture was fulfilled which said, Abraham believed
God and it was imputed unto him for righteousness and he was called the
friend of God." Ephesians 3:12
"In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith
of him." Philippians 1:20 "According
to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed,
but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified
in my body, whether it be by life or by death." Hebrews
10:19 "Having therefore brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest
by the blood of Emmanuel." 1John 4:17
"Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day
of judgment, because as he is, so are we in this world."
Family
New Testament Notes:."their
uncovered heads will be a sign that they have no Earthly lord.",
or to put it another way, he dishonors
the spiritual head (Christ) when he covers his own head with an Earthly
cover, such as a hat:.Ephesians
1:20-23;
5:23;
Colossians
1:18 "And he is the head of the body, the church...".Paul
is saying that having one's head covered is a sign of disrespect.
The
traditional religious customs of these ancient Judeans worshipers
included men having their heads covered. Paul here, in this New Testament
era
was establishing spiritual traditions (1Corinthians
11:2;
2Thessalonians 2:15;
3:6)
and saying, this covering of the head as those of Judah back then thought
necessary, is not a requirement because one with the Holy
Spirit, is always enveloped
spiritually by that Holy Spirit:.Matthew
15:8,9; John 14:17; Romans
8:9; Galatians 3:1-6; 1Corinthians
3:16; 6:19; 2Corinthians
3:6-9; Ephesians 4:6; Colossians
2:8,20-22; 3:1,2; Philippians
2:5; 1Thessalonians 2:13;
Titus
1:14; 1Peter 1:18; 2:5;
1John
2:27; Hebrews
13:5 "....for he has said, I will never leave you, nor forsake you.").
It was no longer an era based on outdated customs such as those of ancient
Judah were holding onto, but now was beginning a spiritual era of the heart:.Acts
2:1-4 "...there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind
and it filled all the house where they were sitting...and they
were all filled with the Holy Ghost...".And
this was whether or not they had anything on their heads. Paul, was brought
up a Pharisee. He was strict in the ways of ancient Judah, having been
trained all his life that way. No doubt as a result of that, he felt that
in a church setting the 'men uncovered and women covered' idea was, though
it was only a physical thing, probably a good idea and perhaps it was.
1Corinthians
11:5 But every woman that prays or prophesies with her head uncovered.(meaning
much the same as verse 4, where it's Christ).dishonors
her head. For that is even all one.('all
one' meaning it's the same as if she shaved her hair off).as
if she were shaven.
1Corinthians
11:8 For the man is not of the woman, but the woman of the man.
1Corinthians
11:9 Neither was the man created for the woman, but the woman for the
man.
1Corinthians 11:10 For this cause ought the woman
to have power on her head because of the angels.
1Corinthians
11:10 For this cause.(speaking
of Christ {verses 1 and to this verse 10} the woman having come out of
the man).ought the woman to have power
on her head because of the angels.
This is a New
Testament thing due to the Holy Spirit
now being given to all (*):.John
7:39; because she has a man who loves her, the angels are with her
in her life and this because of the power, the intelligent
energy flow, coming initially
from the Creator-Father and then through
Christ,
then through the man of
higher consciousness, who because of this, is connected to the Father
of all. It's the love of this high quality man that enwraps in, for and
around, safety and protection and other blessings for the woman:.Ephesians
5:21-25. But what if a woman has no man or doesn't have a man any longer?.1Timothy
5:5.
1Corinthians 11:11,12 Nevertheless neither is the
man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord.
For as the woman is of the man, even so is the man also by the woman; but
all things of God.
1Corinthians
11:11,12.Nevertheless
neither is the man without the woman.(the
man and woman were made to be a comfort and a blessing to each other, not
a
tyrant/slave
relationship at all), neither the woman without the man, in the
Lord. For as the woman is of the man, even so is the man also by the woman;
but all things of God.
Paul is saying
that they are a unit when they are in Christ, otherwise, how can they work
together in life? There would be confusion
and discord:.1Corinthians
14:33; 2Corinthians 13:11;
Galatians
5:22; Ephesians 2:14; 4:3;
6:23;
Philippians
4:7; Colossians 1:20; 3:15.
1Corinthians
11:14 Does not even nature itself teach you, that, if
a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?
1Corinthians
11:15 But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her. For her
hair is given her for a covering.
1Corinthians
11:16 But if any man seem to be contentious,
we have no such custom, neither the churches of God.
No
such custom to put up with such a person in some hope he might become different
if we just leave him in the church to absorb some spirituality.
1Corinthians
11:17 Now in this.(verse
16).that I declare unto you
I praise you not, that you come together not for the better, but for the
worse.
1Corinthians
11:18 For first of all, when you come together in the church, I hear
that there be divisions among you and I in part believe it.
1Corinthians
11:19 For there must be also heresies.(root
of word 'heresies' is 'I choose' and so can mean either a good thing or
a bad thing, so then it's saying that there are differing opinions amongst
those growing on the spiritual pathway).among
you, that they which are approved.(of
the same mind, that is, as they grow they walk closer to each other who
may be on the same pathway:.Romans
12:16; 1Corinthians 1:10;
Philippians
4:2).may be made manifest
among you.
Acts
17:11.
1Corinthians
11:20 When you come together therefore into one place, this is not
to eat the Lord's supper.
That
is, He ate it, so
you can't because your weren't there at that time to eat it. Paul is pointing
out, Why then are you Corinthians here if not to learn the meaning of it
all?
What about
today? Nothing wrong with commemorating
it, but is it necessary?.Hebrews
6:1,2.
1Corinthians
11:21 For in eating every one takes before other his own supper.(a
'me first' selfish type of banquet;
grab your meal first, get the best food for yourself, finish first and
get out and who cares a hoot
about the other person?).and
one is hungry and another is drunken.
For
many in this Corinthian church, apparently the most carnal (1Corinthians
3:3) of all the churches back then, viewed not the spiritual aspects
but rather the
physical, like 'hey! here's an opportunity for a party, let's eat and get
drunk'. The Corinthians were a lively, boisterous,
but factionalized
group.
1Corinthians
11:22 What? Have you not houses to eat and to drink in? Or despise
you the church of God and shame them that are the have nots? What shall
I say to you? shall I praise you in this? I praise you not.
1Corinthians
11:23 For I have received of the Lord
that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Emmanuel the same night
in which he was betrayed took bread.
Paul
here tries to show them the meaning of this coming together at this time
(what a communion
means), tries to show them the import of it all:.Matthew
26:26-28.
1Corinthians
11:24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it and said, Take, eat.
This is my body, which is broken for you. This do in remembrance of me.
That
is, have it in mind why Christ came for
all of us.
Barnes
Notes:."As
oft as ye drink it.".Not
prescribing any time and not even specifying the frequency with which it
was to be done; but leaving it to themselves to determine how often they
would do this.
1Corinthians
11:25 After the same manner.(the
same manner as mentioned in the previous verse of having it in mind why
Christ came for all of us).also
he took the cup, when he had supped.(finished
eating), saying, This cup.(or,
what's in this cup, which was wine, which represented His dying by having
His blood spilled for all people).is
the new
covenant.(word
'covenant' fits better here than word 'testament', both equal in the original).in
my
blood. This do you, as often as you drink, in
remembrance of me.
What
was this new covenant?
1Corinthians
11:26 For as often as you eat
this bread and drink this cup, you do show.(that
is, show that it has meaning for you, that it's significant
to you).the Lord's death till
he come.
Barnes
Notes: Paul, by calling it bread, shows
that he was a stranger to the Roman, later Vatican,
doctrine
that the bread was actually changed into the body of Christ, that is, Christ
came down and went into the bread. A completely ridiculous religiously
formed doctrine. Christ is in one's
heart. There is no need for something less than this:.Hebrews
10:5.
Had the papal
doctrine of transubstantiation
been true, Paul would not have called it simply, bread. Paul knew that
what the Vatican called a transubstantiation doctrine, was originally meant
only to be a reminder of that last supper for the disciples.
The Romanists
do not believe that it is bread, nor would they call it such and this shows
how needful it was for these corrupters to keep the Scriptures
away from the people and how therefor
impossible it was for these corrupt ones to express their dogmas
in the language of the Bible.
Typical of their hijacking of other things,
they had to pervert
the Bible's meaning here and there to throw sincere truth seekers
off track:.John
8:44. As recent crimes by the
Vatican et al
show the corruption, one can see who they really were worshiping.
Let Christians.adhere
to the language of the Bible and there is no danger of their falling
into the devious plans and outright errors of
the papists.
1Corinthians
11:27.Wherefore whosoever shall eat this
bread and drink this cup of the Lord unworthily.(original
also has 'in an unworthy manner', that is, by turning this meaningful.occasion
into a frivolous
party or by feeling seriously wrong to take part because one feels so unworthy
to participate),
shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.
Realizing
you're
righteous because of what He did is the important thing here,
as
opposed to, not caring two hoots
about it anyway and showing it by your actions.
These Corinthians
were thinking that 'this is just another get together with something to
eat and drink', a party of
sorts. Paul is saying to these Corinthians that it's not just a meal
with something to drink.
Some very good hearted modern day Christians have taken this verse to heart
so much that it's made them ill, because they have felt so unworthy to
partake of this particular ceremony
with its meaning for what Christ came and did for all the world. But it's
joy for those that know the truth, not something foreboding:.John
8:32; 15:11; 17:13;
Romans
8:1. You are worthy to take it if you feel unworthy.
People don't feel free about the things they should feel free about. They
feel that if they are included in some sort of physical ceremony they feel
then that they have been validated.
Such things as religious physical ceremonies were done away with, but alas,
such cermonies are still practiced by those not having yet moved on from
the physicalness of various religions:.Hebrews
5:14-6:3.
The Corinthians Paul is here referring to felt just the opposite of being
unworthy:.1Corinthians
4:8. For many of them it was an opportunity for a party with food and
drink! They failed to see the import of this occasion to their lives. If
you feel you're still in sin, then you fail to realize the full
impact of the reason Emmanuel was here and that
was ...; Hebrews 10:29.
1Corinthians
11:28 But let a man examine himself and so let him eat of that bread,
and drink of that cup.
1Corinthians
11:29 For he that eats and drinks unworthily, eats and drinks damnation
to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.
1Corinthians
11:30 For this cause
many are weak and sickly among you and many sleep.
The
church here in Corinth had decided to keep this solemn.ceremony
to celebrate spiritual things important to them in their relationship with
God, however some, after having committed to being at the occasion, were
making light of what was intended to be a happy but serious form of worship.
They saw the whole thing not with the gravity of what Emmanuel went through
for us, but rather as party time.
1Corinthians
11:31 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.
If
you analyze yourself, you won't have to have your
actions judge you. We are judged when we see circumstances we don't
like and ask ourselves what we did to have them come into our lives. Such
things are a mirror to us so we can determine what better we should be
like.
1Corinthians 11:32 But when
we are judged, we are chastened of God, that we should not be condemned
with the world.
Paraphrased:
'When we see that we are experiencing negative circumstances, such as
these, realize that these are a result of the multiversal
law God set up of 'you reap
what you have sown', so you would not be the same as those of low consciousness:.1John
2:15-17.
But
when we are judged, we are chastened
of God.(the One
who set up the automatic laws of the multiverse:.Isaiah
11:4, one of them being, the reap/sow
law, which is the law of balance, that is, your life is judged by how
you live it); are you tipping the scale on the good side or not; well
then), that we should not be condemned
with the world."
The result
of these automatic laws are for awakening us, so things don't get worse
in life for us:.Psalms
103:10.
Laws set up
so that when not on the pathway
of love, they produce hurts in order to awaken us, so that it is open
for all to be saved. While in the low consciousness
of humanity, we are condemned, that is, it is seen by those on the invisible
side, that we are still stuck in this
harmful realm
of low consciousness.
1Corinthians
11:33 Wherefore, my brethren, when you come together to eat, tarry
one for another.
Wait
for one another and be of the same mind.
1Corinthians
11:34 And if any man hunger, let him eat at home, that you come not
together unto condemnation. And the rest will I set in order when I come.
This
was not to be a feast, but the Corinthians were treating it as if it were
a party. They just, at this point, didn't comprehend what it was all about.
