Exodus 32:1 And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron and said unto him, Up.(we'd rather worship than just be sitting around getting bored waiting for this guy Moses to come back from up the mountain; he might never come back, so let's get going with something; this waiting is driving us crazy), make us Gods.(of which they eventually.had many), which shall go before us, for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not.(don't know).what is become of him.

Exodus 32:2,3 And Aaron said unto them, Remove the golden earrings, which are in the ears of your wives of your sons and of your daughters and bring them unto me. And all the people removed the golden earrings which were in their ears and brought them unto Aaron.

Exodus 32:4 And he received them at their hand and fashioned it with a graving tool after he had made it a molten calf.(and this carried on and on through various times back then). And they said, These be your Gods, O Israel, which brought you up out of the land of Egypt.

Exodus 32:5 And when Aaron.(Aaron was in authority during the absence of Moses:.Exodus 24:14).saw it, he built an altar before it and Aaron made proclamation and said, Tomorrow is a feast to or God.

Exodus 32:6 And they rose up early on the morrow and offered burnt offerings and brought peace offerings and the people sat down to eat and to drink and rose up to play
Original for word 'play' is 'mock', 'laugh', 'make sport of', ridicule. They became against Moses who led them out of 430 years of captivity in Egypt. Their actons were not of the heart. Their actions were only because, at this time, they felt they should do as they wanted.
Exodus 32:7 And God said unto Moses, Go, get thee down, for your people, which you brought out of the land of Egypt have corrupted themselves.

Exodus 32:8 They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them. They have made them a molten calf and have worshipped it and have sacrificed thereunto and said, These be your Gods, O Israel, which have brought you up out of the land of Egypt.
They were anxious to get away from God, Moses & Aaron and all those with Moses, who brought them out of captivity. They were unthankful, unholy and were constantly complaining:.Jeremiah 44:16,17.
Exodus 32:9 And God said unto Moses, I have seen this people and behold, it is a stiffnecked.people.

Exodus 32:10 Now therefore let me alone, that my wrath may wax hot against them and that I may consume them and I will make of thee a great nation.

Exodus 32:11 And Moses besought God and said, Why does your wrath wax hot against your people which you have brought forth out of the land of Egypt with great power and with a mighty hand?
So then, why evil?
Exodus 32:12,13 Wherefore should the Egyptians speak and say, For mischief did he bring them out, to slay them in the mountains and to consume them from the face of the Earth? Turn from your fierce wrath and repent of this evil against your people. Remember Abraham, Isaac and Israel.(now known as the individual named Israel, who before was known as Jacob), your servants, to whom you swore by your own self and said unto them, I will multiply your seed as the stars of heaven and all this land that I have spoken of, will I give unto your seed and they shall inherit it for ever.

Exodus 32:14 And God repented.(means to have been affected emotionally to the point of a change of heart; does God change?).of the evil which he thought to do unto his people.
As the people back then had enough of God and Moses & Aaron, so God had enough of them too. Moses talks God out of what He (the Creator), in His anger, was thinking of doing.
Exodus 32:15 And Moses turned and went down from the mount.(Mount Sinai:.Exodus 34:29-32).and the two tables.(Exodus 31:18).of the testimony were in his hand. The tables were written on both their sides. On the one side and on the other were they written.

Exodus 32:16 And the tables were the work of God and the writing was the writing of God, graven upon the tables.

Exodus 32:19 And it came to pass, as soon as he came nigh unto the camp, he saw the calf and the dancing and Moses' anger waxed hot and he cast the tables out of his hands and brake them beneath the mount.

Exodus 32:22,23 And Aaron said, Let not the anger of my lord wax hot. You know the people that they are set on mischief. For they said unto me, Make us Gods, which shall go before us. For as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we don't know what has become of him.

Exodus 32:24 And I said unto them, Whosoever has any gold, let them break it off. So they gave it me. Then I cast it into the fire and there came out this calf.
Duh! He's saying, all I did was to throw the gold into the fire and 'presto bingo', out came a calf! Ha ha! There was obviously a mold of a calf made out of iron, which requires much higher heat to melt than gold.
Exodus 32:26 Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp and said, Who is on the God's side? Let him come unto me. And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together unto him.

Exodus 32:31,32 And Moses returned to God and said, Oh, this people have sinned a great sin and have made them Gods of gold. Yet now if will you, forgive their sin and if not, blot me, I pray thee, out of your book which you have written.
Moses cared a lot for the people he was leading. Moses knew God was keeping a record. Sometimes he got fed up with the people's attitudes and that was not good:.Exodus 32:19.
Exodus 32:33 And God said unto Moses, Whosoever has sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book..(?)

Exodus 32:34 Therefore now go, lead the people unto the place of which I have spoken unto you. Behold, my Angel shall go before you. Nevertheless in the day when I visit I will visit their sin upon them.
Exodus 32:34 Therefore now go, lead the people unto the place.(the word 'place' is not in the original; Moses never led this people unto that place, instead they were led only sort of and round and round about, toward the promised land, as they wandered around the wilderness for forty years until those who came out of Egypt all died in the wilderness except Joshua and Caleb (Numbers 14:22-24,27-33) and the children of those having come out of Egypt who were 20 years old and younger; Moses did lead them towards the place, but because of Moses anger (Exodus 32:19), not even he could take them over the river Jordan into the new land; it was Joshua who took them there: Deuteronomy 12:9,10).of which I have spoken unto you. Behold, mine Angel shall go before you. Nevertheless in the day when I visit I will visit their sin upon them.

The multiversal law God set up with humans in mind to be created on Earth, is  reaping what we they have sown. The day when God visits is not God coming to see you personally, but the day (Joshua 24:20) when what you have done begins to come back to you.

Exodus 33:1 And God said unto Moses, Depart and go up hence, you and the people which you have brought up out of the land of Egypt, unto the land which I sware unto Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob, saying, Unto your seed will I give it.

Exodus 33:2 And I will send an angel before you and I will drive out the Canaanite, the Amorite and the Hittite and the Perizzite, the Hivite and the Jebusite.
.All the 'ites'.
Exodus 33:3 Unto a land flowing with milk and honey, for I will not go up in the midst of you, for you are a stiffnecked.(stubborn).people, lest I consume you in the way.

Exodus 33:4 And when the people heard these evil tidings, they mourned and no man did put on him his ornaments.
Like they would normally have done when happy and getting all decked out for a cheerful party time.
Exodus 33:5 For God had said unto Moses, Say unto the children of Israel, You are a stiffnecked people. I will come up into the midst of you in a moment and consume you.(if you don't change; always be willing to change as God controls all and is very powerful, greater than we kinow, but He also remembers we are but dust:.Psalms 103:14); therefore now put off your ornaments from yourselves, that I may know what to do unto you.

Exodus 33:6 And the children of Israel stripped themselves of their ornaments by the mount Horeb.

Exodus 33:7 And Moses took the tabernacle and pitched it without the camp, afar off from the camp and called it the Tabernacle of the congregation. And it came to pass, that every one which sought God went out unto the tabernacle of the congregation, which was without the camp.
The action Moses here took is allegorical to today, where in meditation & prayer, we get 'far from the camp', that is, far from the social life and daily routines we all have and into 'the tabernacle', that being, the silence within us where our meditation & prayer is effective.
Exodus 33:8 And it came to pass, when Moses went out unto the tabernacle, that all the people rose up and stood every man at his tent door and looked after Moses.(watched him), until he was gone into the tabernacle.

Exodus 33:9 And it came to pass, as Moses entered into the tabernacle, the cloudy pillar.(the cloudy pillar).descended and stood at the door of the tabernacle and the Lord talked with Moses.

Exodus 33:10 And all the people saw the cloudy pillar stand at the tabernacle door. And all the people rose up and worshipped, every man in his tent door.

Exodus 33:11 And God spoke unto Moses face to face.(original is 'in his presence'; the Creator did not want His face to be seen {verses 20-23 below} with them back then, but in the future it's a different story; also same in Deuteronomy 34:10; Genesis 32:30), as a man speaks unto his friend.(Abraham was also known as the friend of God:.James 2:23). And he turned again into the camp, but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle.

Exodus 33:12 And Moses said unto God, See, you said unto me, Bring up this people and you have not let me know whom you will send with me. Yet you have said, I know you by name and you have also found grace in my sight.
Moses was reminding God, telling Him that 'hey God, I found favor and grace in your sight and you wanted me to do this and would have someone help me', so he was contending a bit with God. He was somewhat miffed at how he felt God was treating him.
Exodus 33:13 Now therefore, I pray you, if I have found grace in your sight, show me now your way, that I may know you, that I may find grace in your sight and consider.(consider as I deal with them).that this nation is your people.

Exodus 33:14 And he said, My presence shall.(word 'shall' not in original anywhere).go with you and I will give you rest.
The verse simply means that the Great Infinite One is saying."I am with you; you rest" (*); note that grace is equated with God's presence being with a person, verses 13, 14 right above:.Matthew 11:28-30.
Exodus 33:15,16 And he said unto him, If your presence go not with me, carry us not up hence. For wherein shall it be known here that I and your people have found grace in your sight? is it not in that you go with us? so shall we be separated, I and your people, from all the people that are upon the face of the Earth.

Exodus 33:17 And God said unto Moses, I will do this thing also that you have spoken, for you have found grace in my sight and I know you by name.

Exodus 33:18 And he said, I beseech you, show me your glory.

Exodus 33:19 And he.(God).said, I will make all my goodness pass before you.(when was this?.Exodus 34:5,6).and I will proclaim my name before you and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy.
And who would these be that will receive mercy?
Exodus 33:20 And he said, You cannot see my face.(the Creator is intelligent most powerful energy, something beyond our comprehension; what human can stand in front of an atomic or hydrogen bomb's energy and live, except for those having now ascended to a higher density, above the frequencies of those things), for there shall no physical man see me and live.
Matthew 17:2.
Exodus 33:21-23 And God said, Behold, there is a place by me and you shall stand upon a rock. And it shall come to pass, while my glory passes by, that I will put you in a clift of the rock and will cover you with my hand while I pass by. And I will take away mine hand and you shall see my back parts.(perhaps covered with a sort of 'spirit cloak'), but my face shall not be seen.

Exodus 34:1 And God said unto Moses, Hew thee two tables of stone like unto the first. And I will write upon these tables the words that were in the first tables, which you broke.

Exodus 34:4 And he hewed two tables of stone.(Exodus 31:18).like unto the first.(why two times?.Deuteronomy 9:9-18).and Moses rose up early in the morning and went up unto mount Sinai, as the Lord had commanded him and took in his hand the two tables of stone.

Exodus 34:5 And an angel descended in the cloud and stood with him there and proclaimed the name of God.

Exodus 34:6 And God.(here being one with a message from God, an angel).passed by before him and proclaimed, God is merciful and gracious, longsuffering and abundant in goodness and truth.
Moses earlier had wanted to know more about the Creator (Exodus 33:18,19) and so the incident in this verse shows to Moses more of what God's name stands for. Here are a few of the names of this unchanging (Malachi 3:6), eternal, self-existent, true God. Consult one of the Bible dictionaries for more.

The bad 'god' is here.

Here are many more names of God, having great meaning:

Exodus 34:7 Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin and that will by no means clear the guilty.(that is, if one is still guilty he hasn't asked to be forgiven; he still has a remembrance of sin); visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children and upon the children's children, unto the third and to the fourth generation..(?)

Exodus 34:9 And he said, If now I have found grace in your sight God, go among us, for it is a stiffnecked people and pardon our iniquity and our sin and take us for your inheritance.

Exodus 34:10 And he said, Behold, I make a covenant. Before all your people I will do marvels, such as have not been done in all the Earth, nor in any nation and all the people among which you are shall see the work of God, for it is a terrible.(original 'fearfully amazing').thing that I will do with you.
And those things were driving away nations that would influence these people in departing from God.{verse 14; Psalms 77:14; Joshua 23:11-16}  and other things too that were amazing:.2Samuel 7:23.
Exodus 34:11 Observe you that which I command you this day. Behold, I drive out before thee the Amorite and the Canaanite and the Hittite and the Perizzite and the Hivite and the Jebusite.
Exodus 34:11 Observe thou that which I command you this day. Behold, I drive out before thee the.Amorite.(Genesis 15:16).and the.Canaanite.(*).and the.Hittite.(a Canaanite tribe dwelling near Hebron in the time of Abraham; Hittites were descendants of.Heth.{1Chronicles 1:13-16}, son of.Canaan.{1Chronicles 1:9}).and the.Perizzite.(ancient inhabitants of Palestine, who had mingled with the Canaanites with some of themselves being descendants of Canaan).and the.Hivite.(a son of Canaan from whom came the Canaanites:.Genesis 10:17,18; comprised with.Fausset's Bible Dictionary: In the original Hebrew, the Hivites were 'midlanders', 'villagers'. Hivites were descended from Ham. They were a warm, impulsive, unsuspicious people, as their readiness to accept the cunning proposition {Genesis 34:12-31} of Simeon and Levi shows. They were peaceful and commercial, more keen to gain cattle and wealth than to wage war. Even their false idol Baalberith was a God of peace not war. Contrast that of Abimelech who was a cruel selfish war mongering leader).and the.Jebusite.(the name of the original inhabitants of Jebus, a Canaanitish city which stood on Mount Zion; David made Jebus the capital of his kingdom instead of Hebron).

And of the '...ites', there were many more who basically were Canaanite tribes existing way back when:.Exodus 3:17. And there were yet other ancient.'...ites': Genesis 15:19-21.

Exodus 34:14 For you shall worship no other God, for my name shows that I am a jealous God.
Many other names of God.
Exodus 34:22 And you shall observe the.feast of weeks.(referring to the Pentecost feast:.Leviticus 23:15-21; pentecost means 'count fifty' as it was held fifty days after the end of the Feast of Unleavened Bread), of the firstfruits of wheat harvest and the feast of ingathering.(also called the Feast of Tabernacles:.Leviticus 23:26-44).at the year's end.

Exodus 34:27 And God said unto Moses, Write you these words, for after the tenor of these words I have made a covenant with you and with Israel.

Exodus 34:28 And he was there with God forty days and forty nights. He did neither eat bread, nor drink water. And he wrote upon the tables.(Exodus 31:18).the words of the covenant, the commandments.

Exodus 34:29-32 And it came to pass, when Moses came down from mount Sinai.(maps 1, 2).with the two tables of testimony in his hand, he didn't realize the skin of his face shone while he talked. And when Aaron and all the children of Israel saw Moses, behold, the skin of his face shone and they were afraid to come near to him. And Moses called unto them and Aaron and then all the rulers of the congregation returned unto him and Moses talked with them. And afterward all the children of Israel came near and the people were given commandment.(instruction to follow).all that the Lord.(it was angels who often act as though it was God; angels are called messengers, as that's what the original means for the word angel).had spoken with him in mount Sinai.
And what was the 'all that the Lord had spoken'?.Exodus 20:1-7; 21:1.
Exodus 34:33-35 And till Moses had done speaking with them, he put a vail on his face. But when Moses went up to speak to the Lord, he took the vail off until he came out. And he came out and spoke unto the children of Israel that which he was commanded. And the children of Israel saw the face of Moses, that the skin of his face shone and Moses put the vail upon his face again, until he went in to again to speak with him.(God).
Comprised with Barnes Notes: This vail he took off when he went to speak with God {same as God, but actually God's angels}, but put it on again when he delivered God's instructions to the people. What the design of this was, Moses has not declared. The statement which he makes here would lead us to suppose that it this great electrical energy we today call the Holy Spirit that produced the exceeding brightness and dazzling splendor which shone from him and which made it difficult to look intently upon him.
